Jon Jones: I would love to fight Brock Lesnar
Would a fight between Jon Jones and Brock Lesnar not entertain you?
Well, at least one of the two former UFC champions is interested in the matchup.
Jones, who is set to fight current champion Daniel Cormier for the UFC light heavyweight title this weekend at UFC 214 told fans in a recent Facebook chat that he would more than happy to fight the WWE superstar and former UFC heavyweight champion.
“I would love to fight Brock Lesnar,” Jones said to fans in the chat (transcribed by Jesse Holland for MMA Mania). “He’s a massive dude, it would be a massive draw, really big for the sport. It would be a great challenge.”
Interestingly, Jones said that he doesn’t believe Lesnar would be interested in the fight, even if the WWE star were to make a return to the Octagon. Perhaps it’s Jones’ way of luring The Beast Incarnate back to an eventual matchup in the UFC.
“That’s a big old boy,” Jones added. “I doubt Brock Lesnar would take that fight, though. I definitely wouldn’t try to wrestle with him the whole time. I can’t tell you what I would do.”
Jon Jones is coming off a year suspension term after testing positive for the banned substances clomiphene and letrozole, which Jones said was due to a tainted sexual enhancement pill. Jones will look to regain the UFC light heavyweight championship title in a rematch against Daniel Cormier in the main event of UFC 214.
Cormier, on the other hand, will look to avenge his only loss and solidify himself as one of the all-time greats with a win over Jones.
