The historic trade, which is expected to be finalized very soon, could have a significant impact on the sport and its athletes moving forward.

Immediately after news of the trade first surfaced, Ben Askren took to Twitter where immediately took aim at the members of the current UFC roster.

Funky” proceeded to get in heated exchanges with fellow welterweights Mike Perry, Darren Till, Alan Jouban, Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal.

The former Bellator and ONE Championship title holder, Ben Askren, also called for a 165-pound super-fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov (27-0 MMA).

Askren believes a fight with “The Eagle” would prove who is the best MMA grappler on planet earth.

Most recently, Malki Kawa, who manages star fighters such as Jon Jones and Demetrious Johnson, took to Twitter where he goaded Ben Askren into thanking him for making the historic trade happen.

“And unashamed to pat himself on the back too! You’re good at what you do, no denying that.” – Ben Askren

Mr. Kawa’s response to “Funky” was interesting to say the least.

“No Ben. The words are: thank you Malki. Even though you don’t rep me, you did what no one else ever did. Now time to do your deal since your numbers are trash my guy.” – Malki Kawa
