Jon Jones reveals “next chapter” in UFC 295 promo
Current UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones is less than a month away from defending his heavyweight title against former kingpin Stipe Miocic at Madison Square Garden.
The promotion released its official promo for the mega fight on November 11. Jones reflected upon his reasoning behind going for two championship titles to add to an already illustrious UFC career.
“This is who I was meant to be, the baddest dude out there,” Jon Jones said. “This next chapter will be when I show the world how great I could possibly be.”

Jones has been part of the UFC since 2008, defeating some of the sport’s best fighters. Mauricio Rua, Lyoto Machida, Vitor Belfort, Alexander Gustafsson, and Anthony Smith were just a few of the dominant wins over 11 years, making him a pound-for-pound great.
Jones finally decided to take the next step in his career. The next step in defining his legacy was moving up to heavyweight. He did just that in March, dominating Ciryl Gane in less than a minute to win the heavyweight title.
Instead of fighting Francis Ngannou to determine who the best heavyweight in the world is, contract negotiations at the beginning of the year forced Ngannou out, bringing Miocic back into the picture to fight Jones.
While there is speculation about the future of Jones and Miocic, it remains to be seen whether the fight will live up to the hype. If Jones were to win, it could make him the greatest ever, if not one of the best.
It’ll mark over two years since Miocic’s last Octagon appearance as he was knocked out by Ngannou, relinquishing his heavyweight title in the process.
The bout will top the UFC’s annual trip to Madison Square Garden, as greats like Georges St. Pierre, Conor McGregor, and Israel Adesanya have competed there over the last seven years.
