Tom Taylor - December 23, 2018

Alexander Gustafsson is not a fan of Jon Jones, who he’ll battle for the vacant UFC light heavyweight title in the main event of UFC 232 on December 29. The Swedish contender believes professional fighters should be role models, and that Jones’s actions outside the cage make him anything but. “I’m not a fan,” Gustafsson said at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas earlier this week (via MMAjunkie). “We’re all role models here. We have to represent the sport good. I’m not a fan at all. But we’re not here to be friends. We’re here to compete.”

After keeping his mouth shut through throughout his recent United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) suspension, former UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones says he will no longer be allowing negative comments to go unchallenged — particularly from his arch rival Daniel Cormier. “The only reason I brought up the name of Daniel Cormier is that he brought up my name,” Jones said on the UFC 232 pre-fight conference call (transcript via MMA Fighting). “And I just figured, when I was in trouble, I just stepped back, all summer long, and let everybody talk as much sh*t as they want, and just talk blindly, knowing no facts. I watched everybody that I beat in the past say ‘ohh, he was on steroids when he fought me the first time, that’s why he beat me.’ I just sat back and let everybody have at it.”

This extra testing was not mandatory, merely encouraged. “I, for one, would like to put the doubts to sleep and to put them away once and for all,” commissioner Martha Shen-Urquidez told Jones at the hearing. “And for people to believe you, that you are that talented and that you are the greatest, and that you can win a fight just clean, and that this is Jon Jones, and to put those doubts away once and for all.”

Ahead of UFC 232 comeback, Jon Jones shares his biggest regret

Tom Taylor - November 26, 2018

Jon Jones is inarguably one of the greatest fighters in MMA history. In fact, he might just be the best fighter ever. That being said, the last few years of his career, have not gone particularly smoothly. Although he has authored some incredible performances in that time, his success has been marred by several failed drug tests and several unfortunate brushes with the law. Of all the incidents that cast a shadow over his recent career, however, Jon Jones says there is one that he regrets most of all: his 2015 hit-and-run, in which he ran a red light and collided with another vehicle, injuring a pregnant woman in the process.

Jon Jones takes aim at Rashad Evans, Chuck Liddell

Tom Taylor - November 25, 2018

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is rarely afraid to share his opinions on his fellow fighters. On Sunday afternoon, that’s just what the MMA legend did, this time taking aim at his former opponent Rashad Evans, and at UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell. Rashad Evans was the first of Jon Jones’ targets. Apparently, Evans recently made some comments that implied Jones was using performance-enhancing drugs when they fought, and that Jones’ 2016 fight with Ovince Saint Preux was the only time he’s fought without these substances in the UFC’s Octagon.
