It’s official. Justin Gaethje will fight Tony Ferguson for the interim lightweight title in the main event of UFC 249 on April 18. Fighting a juggernaut like Ferguson on less than two weeks’ notice amid a pandemic when neither adequate training nor the fight itself can be guaranteed is certainly a risky move.

Dustin Poirier believes Justin Gaethje would beat both Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson in potential fights. Nurmagomedov and Ferguson were expected to fight at UFC 249 on April 18 but the champ withdrew due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ferguson called for “The Eagle” to be stripped, but could also fight Justin Gaethje on that card.

It’s not yet clear when Conor McGregor will return to the UFC’s Octagon, or who he’ll fight in his return. That being said, the most likely option at present seems to be a fight between the Irish star and former World Series of Fighting champ Justin Gaethje. The opening odds for this potential McGregor vs. Gaethje fight were recently released by the sportsbook BetOnline. The oddsmakers have pegged McGregor as a slight betting favorite at -180, meaning a successful $180 bet on the Irishman would win $100. Gaethje, meanwhile, has been labelled as a +155 underdog, meaning a $100 bet on him would win $155.

Justin Gaethje has claimed that he will punch UFC president Dana White in the nose if Conor McGregor winds up receiving a title shot. Gaethje has been making headlines fairly regularly as of late, mainly due to his desire to face Khabib Nurmagomedov for the UFC Lightweight Championship. After stringing together three straight wins via TKO or KO, “The Highlight” firmly believes that he should be next in line to challenge “The Eagle”.

UFC lightweight Justin Gaethje and welterweight Rafael dos Anjos were among those who though Yoel Romero should have earned a decision over Israel Adesanya. Adesanya defeated Romero via close unanimous decision in the main event of UFC 248, with two judges scoring the bout 48-47 for Adesanya and another giving the champion the bout 49-46. However, the rounds were all very close, and some saw the bout in favor of the challenger Romero.

Dan Hardy believes Justin Gaethje can pose a lot of problems for Conor McGregor in a potential fight. McGregor and Gaethje have traded shots at one another and a rumor recently circulated that a fight between the two could take place this summer. And, if it does, Hardy believes Gaethje can look at the Chad Mendes fight to see where he can have success.

Hooker is coming off the back of a thrilling win over Paul Felder at UFC Auckland, and while the victory may have been seen as controversial by some who believed Felder should’ve gotten the nod, the fight itself served as undeniable proof that Hooker has the potential to do some big things at lightweight.

The Auckland card at Spark Arena certainly made headlines for a variety of reasons and while many of those came from the main event, there’s also a lot to be said for the rest of the card. One of the biggest stories coming out of the event was Kowalkiewicz’s loss to Yan Xiaonan via unanimous decision, mainly due to the injuries she sustained.

One of his latest targets is Irish MMA superstar Conor McGregor. “So I’m sitting here watching the UFC fights with my boy Justin Gaethje,” Cejudo said to TMZ Sports. “And I’m just dumbfounded a little bit because we’re talking about Conor McGregor. Yeah, the man that likes to sucker-punch the elderly. Yeah, the man that does terrorist attacks in our country, and he thinks he can get the next title fight with Khabib!”

Hooker was asked by UFC commentator Dan Hardy who he wants next after beating Felder, and he didn’t hesitate to say that he wants to fight Gaethje.

Gaethje has been calling out the Irishman for quite some time, and took shots at McGregor for making his return fight against Donald Cerrone given ‘The Highligt’ had just knocked out ‘Cowboy.’ After McGregor won, the trash-talk only increased as he called for the fight but he says the Irishman is ducking him.

Following the win, “The Highlight” thinks the fight still makes sense. John Kavanagh also said they liked the idea of Gaethje at welterweight as their next fight.

Conor McGregor has options for who he fights next, but according to his coach, John Kavanagh, he wants it to be against Justin Gaethje. In the main event of UFC 246, McGregor made his highly-anticipated return to the Octagon against Donald Cerrone at welterweight. There, the Irishman made quick work of “Cowboy” as he knocked him out in 40 seconds.

Justin Gaethje followed the action closely tonight as Donald “Cowboy” faced Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 246 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. ‘The Highlight’, who is known for his highlight showreel of first-round finishes, was able to deliver the same outcome to Cerrone in his last fight. The former sparring partners fought each other at UFC Vancouver on September 14th 2019. The 31-year old revealed that Cerrone knocked him out during a sparring session, but Gaethje got his payback as he finished Cowboy in the first round of the main event.

As things begin to pick up for the UFC in 2020, several fights have been made throughout the first quarter of the year and that includes a lightweight title fight between champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and top-contender Tony Ferguson. While this is the UFC’s fifth attempt at making a fight between both fighters, other contenders like Justin Gaethje are waiting on the sidelines. Recently, Gaethje told The Luke Thomas Show on Sirius XM that he would be willing to replace either Ferguson or Nurmagomedov in the scheduled UFC 249 title fight, if either were forced to withdraw. While Gaethje’s recent showings back up the claim that he deserves a title shot, UFC President Dana White doesn’t share the same thoughts.
