Pros react after Karl Williams defeats Justin Tafa at UFC Vegas 89
Tonight’s UFC Vegas 89 event was co-headlined by a heavyweight bout between Justin Tafa and Karl Williams.
Tafa (7-3 MMA) entered the contest on a three-fight winning streak, with all three of those victories coming by way of knockout. During that impressive stretch the Aussie had scored finishes over Harry Hunsucker, Parker Porter and Austen Lane respectively.
Meanwhile, Karl Williams (9-1 MMA) entered tonight’s bout sporting a six-fight winning streak, his latest being a unanimous decision victory over Chase Sherman in May of last year.
Tonight’s UFC Vegas 89 co-main event resulted in a unanimous decision victory for Karl Williams. The American was able to get the better of the Aussie in the wrestling department and utilized his grappling to grind out a decision victory. It wasn’t all smooth sailing for Williams, as Justin Tafa cracked him on a couple of occasions that put him on wobbly legs. However, Tafa was never able to capitalize on those openings and ultimately was outpointed on the judges’ scorecards.
