UFC Vegas 89 Results: Karl Williams defeats Justin Tafa (Highlights)

Round one of the UFC Vegas 89 co-main event begins and Karl Williams sends a straight right up the middle. Justin Tafa responds with a nice left. A good 1-2 from Williams. ‘Bad Man’ replies with a hard kick to the body. Tafa with a huge left hand that appears to rock the American. The Aussie charges in for the finish but ends up getting taken down to the canvas. Williams is working from half guard position. He lands an elbow. That appeared to hit the back of the head. Regardless, Tafa works his way back up to his feet. Karl Williams with a trip takedown. He immediately moves to the back of Justin Tafa. He lands a couple of left hands, but Tafa works his way back to his feet. Williams is still draped all over him. He dives for a single leg takedown and gets it. Tafa with an illegal upkick and Herb Dean gives him a “hard warning”. Some good shots from Williams to close out the round.

Round two of the UFC Vegas 89 co-main event begins and Justin Tafa lands a big kick to the body. He fires off another. Karl Williams replies with a good straight left. He fires off a 1-2 and then lands a low kick. Tafa with a nice left hook. He tries to follow that up with a head kick but ends up getting taken down for his efforts. Williams lands in half guard and immediately begins to land some ground and pound. Good lefts and rights from the American. He closes out the round on top and Tafa will likely need a finish in the final five minutes if he’s going to win this fight.

The third and final round of the UFC Vegas 89 co-main event begins and Justin Tafa rocks Karl Williams with a big combination. The American immediately dives for a takedown. Tafa is defending while landing some shots, but Williams is relentless in his pursuit and winds up getting the fight to the floor. Karl moves to half guard and works in some good left hands. Tafa needs to get back to his feet. Williams with a solid knee to the body. He lands another. Tafa’s corner is screaming for him to scramble. He does and is able to get back to his feet. The Aussie breaks free from the clinch and gets back to distance. He lands a left hook, but Williams dives in on another takedown and gets it.
