BREAKING | Khabib Nurmagomedov claims he agreed to fight Tony Ferguson at UFC 219
This December 30, on the main card of UFC 219, undefeated Dagestani lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov is scheduled to step into the cage with venomous Brazilian striker Edson Barboza.
From the sounds of it, however, Nurmagomedov has also been offered a UFC 219 bout with interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson. In a Wednesday afternoon Tweet, Nurmagomedov announced that he’d been offered this fight with Ferguson, and that he has accepted it.
To be clear I was offered to fight @TonyFergusonXT on December 30th and I accepted the fight but my focus is barboza. @danawhite @ufc

“To be clear I was offered to fight [Tony Ferguson] on December 30th, Nurmagomedov said in his Tweet. “I accepted the fight but my focus is Barboza.”
What this means for Nurmagomedov’s bout with Barboza is difficult to say. As he says, however, he is currently remaining focused on the Brazilian knockout artist he’s actually booked to fight. If Ferguson accepts this fight, however, that is likely to change.
Stay tuned for more updates on this surprising turn of events as they emerge.
