VIDEO | Khabib Nurmagomedov once again spoke to Dana White in the middle of his fight
Back in November of 2016, on the undercard of UFC 205, Khabib Nurmagomedov stepped into the Octagon with the dangerous Michael Johnson. Nurmagomedov would dominate this fight, bludgeoning his bewildered foe to a third-round submission win.
While Nurmagomedov’s dominance against Johnson generated plenty of headlines on its own, he also produced some serious buzz by engaging in a pretty long-winded conversation with both Johnson and UFC President Dana White during the fight.
As it turns out, this is becoming regular practice for Nurmagomedov. Last weekend, during his long-awaited 219 comeback battle with dangerous Brazilian knockout artist Edson Barboza, Nurmagomedov once again got talkative.
Nurmagomedov eluded to his chattiness at the UFC 219 post-fight press conference.
“After the first round, I said, ‘Dana, do you want to talk with me?’” Nurmagomedov said (h/t The Mac Life). “He said, ‘Yes, let’s go.’ Let’s do one more round like this, and after that I want to tell him something.”
“After the second round, I asked him, ‘What do you think about the performance?’ He said, ‘I’m sure you’re going to take this.’ I want to enjoy this.”
Now, a video posted to Youtube by FightAffect confirms that Nurmagomedov did indeed pipe up throughout his encounter with Barboza, addressing Dana White through the cage. See this awesome video above.
Having dominated Barboza for three rounds at UFC 219, Nurmagomedov was awarded a unanimous decision win. With this victory, he extended his record to an absolutely insane 25-0 – one of the very best records in MMA today.
At present, the details of Nurmagomedov’s next fight are not known, though he’ll almost certainly get a lightweight title shot. The question is whether that shot comes against undisputed champion Conor McGregor or interim champion Tony Ferguson.
