Nate Diaz sends a message to Khamzat Chimaev ahead of UFC 279: "He better take me clean out the way the odds are, pressure's on"

Cole Shelton - September 8, 2022

Nate Diaz believes there is a lot of pressure on Khamzat Chimaev to not only beat him but finish him the way the odds are. Diaz is currently a +750 underdog with Chimaev being a -1150 favorite as many are expecting the Swede to ragdoll the Stockton native. However, if Chimaev doesn’t finish Diaz early or beat him, people may not think highly of him which is why the ‘Stockton Slugger’ believes there is a ton of pressure on Chimaev.

Khamzat Chimaev reacts to Kevin Holland calling him "wannabe street": "Forget that last slap I gave you?"

Ryan Harkness - September 8, 2022

Kevin Holland is very familiar with Khamzat Chimaev’s habit of getting in the faces of UFC athletes on fight week. Back in September of 2020, Chimaev accosted him at the UFC fighter hotel, getting physical with ‘Trailblazer’ over an Instagram comment about wearing masks. “He only does this extra wannabe street s*** when the media is around,” Holland said during UFC 279 media day interviews. “Other than that, he doesn’t do it. When you guys aren’t around, he wants to do fist bumps and he wants to be your best friend. When you guys are around, he’s like, I’m going to rip your head off! You ain’t ripping s*** off dog, you just want a paycheck like the rest of these guys around here.”

Khamzat Chimaev hopes Nate Diaz can survive all five rounds at UFC 279: "If I beat him first round everyone is going to say the guy is too old"

Cole Shelton - September 7, 2022

Khamzat Chimaev doesn’t want to score an early finish over Nate Diaz. Chimaev is set to headline UFC 279 opposite Diaz in a big fight for both men as ‘Borz’ gets the chance to become a bigger star by fighting and possibly beating Diaz. Although Chimaev is above a -1000 favorite and everyone expects him to finish Diaz, he doesn’t want to do it early. Instead, for the Swede, he says he’d rather go all five rounds as he believes if he finishes Diaz early people will discredit his win saying the Stockton native was too old.

Ryan Harkness - September 7, 2022

Paulo Costa and Khamzat Chimaev got into a heated argument at the UFC Performance Institute earlier this week that almost turned into an all-out brawl. If you believe Chimaev, a fight was only avoided because his training partners held him back. According to Costa, the whole thing was just a show for the cameras. In an interview with Full Send MMA’s Shawny Mack, the popular Brazilian middleweight described how ‘Borz’ and his team withdrew quickly after it looked like Costa was willing to throw down.

After Chimaev beat Gilbert Burns, many thought he could’ve gotten a title shot but the UFC decided to have Kamaru Usman face Leon Edwards. With a minute left in the fight, it appeared that Usman was going to be on his way to winning, however, Edwards landed a clean head kick that knocked the champ out cold.
