LAST FIGHT? Mayweather Hints At Retirement Following Pacquiao Bout
“I’m pretty much done with all this. It’s not fun like it was back then. It’s business now. I don’t really enjoy it any longer,. Final [fight] at the MGM Grand in September.”
After almost twenty years of in-ring competition, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather mentioned during Tuesday’s media scrum that he may be hanging up his gloves. Mayweather is looking to have a dominant final showing in May when he goes toe-to-toe with Manny Pacquiao. The fight is set to break pay-per-view records and the payday will likely go straight into ‘Money’s’ retirement fund.
This isn’t the first time that Floyd Mayweather told the media he would retire as he has done so at previous media scrums. However, considering Manny Pacquiao is the final elite opponent Mayweather has yet to face, his comments may hold true. Once a fighter loses the urge to fight, he should not step into the ring again. The urge to prove he is better than Pac-man may be the only thing that is bringing him to Las Vegas in May.
