Lavar Johnson vs. Brendan Schaub rescheduled for UFC 157 | UFC News

By Chris Taylor - December 20, 2012

UFC officials announced yesterday that a heavyweight clash between Lavar Johnson (17-6 MMA, 2-1 UFC) and Brendan Scahub (8-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) has been made official for UFC 157 in February.

Schaub and Johnson were initially slated to meet earlier this month at UFC on FOX 5 in Seattle, however, Johnson was forced to pull out of the bout a week before the event due to a pulled groin.

Johnson is coming off his first loss in the UFC, which he suffered to Stefan Struve at UFC 146, a fight which he took on short notice. Prior to the Struve bout, Lavar had gone 2-0 under the UFC banner, winning both contests in the first round by way of stoppage.

Meanwhile, Schaub has dropped back-to-back fights, suffering KO losses to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Ben Rothwell respectively. Prior to those losses, Schaub had put together a four-fight win-streak, which included victories over Gabriel Gonzaga and Mirko Filipovic.

UFC 157 is set to go down February 23rd live from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The event is headlined by the UFC’s first women’s fight between bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey and contender Liz Carmouche.
