Colby Covington told Jorge Masvidal to pull out of his fight with Leon Edwards: “Let’s run in the first quarter of the first part of (2022).” Covington fought his archrival, Kamaru Usman, in the main event of UFC 268 and came away on the losing end of a unanimous decision at the end of the 25 minutes. Although Covington had his moments in the fight, he wasn’t able to do enough damage to the champ, and he didn’t utilize enough effective wrestling to win the decision. While it was a close fight and Covington proved that he’s an elite welterweight by taking Usman to the brink of defeat, once again it was the champ who pulled off the victory over Covington.

Kamaru Usman shared the reason why Leon Edwards didn’t get the next title shot. After Edwards beat Diaz at UFC 263, he said his next fight would be for the belt. Yet, Usman will instead defend his title against Colby Covington at UFC 268 and Edwards will fight Jorge Masvidal at UFC 269. For Usman, he says Edwards getting rocked in the final minute against Diaz cost him the title shot.

Former UFC middleweight champion and current color commentator Michael Bisping analyzed UFC 269’s Leon Edwards vs. Jorge Masvidal fight. Edwards returns later this year at UFC 269 when he takes on Masvidal in a three-round welterweight bout. According to Edwards, the UFC has told him that if he wins the fight, he will be given the next title shot at 170lbs. Speaking on his YouTube channel, one of Edwards’ fellow Brits in Bisping broke down the fight with Masvidal. As far as Bisping goes, this is a very difficult fight to predict, but he does think Edwards holds several advantages.

Edwards has gone unbeaten over his last 10 fights in a row and he has been adamant that his next fight would be for the title. However, Edwards finally caved and accepted the UFC’s offer to fight Masvidal. The two rivals meet at UFC 269 in December and, according to Edwards, it’s a No. 1 contender fight for him as he has been promised that he will get the next title shot against the winner of UFC 269’s Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington 2.

UFC welterweight contender Leon Edwards clapped back after being accused of ducking other welterweight contenders. Fellow welterweight contender Gilbert Burns has accused Edwards of being “scared” and ducking fights at 170lbs, but as far as “Rocky” goes, that is simply not true. Speaking to MMAFighting.com’s The MMA Hour in a recent interview, Edwards clapped back at Burns for suggesting that he is ducking other 170lbs fighters. As far as Edwards goes, he has accepted all the fights the UFC has offered him and is the one who is taking all the risks.

Top-ranked UFC welterweight contenders Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards reacted to their upcoming fight booking at UFC 269. It was revealed on Monday that the grudge match between Masvidal and Edwards will finally be happening at UFC 269, which takes place on December 11 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is a grudge match nearly three years in the making, ever since the “three-piece and a soda” incident at UFC London back in March 2019. Both Masvidal and Edwards do not like each other and this should be one of the most exciting fights of the year when it finally goes down in December. The news that Edwards would be fighting Masvidal at UFC 269 on December 11 came out Monday. The two welterweight rivals have not liked each other ever since the “three-piece and a soda” incident in London in March 2019. In the two-and-a-half years since then, they have talked a lot of smack to each other. Finally, they will meet inside the Octagon.

Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards will finally share the Octagon with one another. According to MMA reporter, Ariel Helwani, Masvidal and Edwards have agreed to fight one another at UFC 269 on December 11 in a three-round welterweight fight. The event will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. With the fight being added to the pay-per-view, Brandon Moreno vs. Deiveson Figueiredo 3 has been moved to UFC 270 in January. That event is targeted to happen in Las Vegas or Anaheim, according to Helwani.

Why would I fight you?” Masvidal has not fought since being knocked out by UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman at UFC 261 back in April. Following that fight, Masvidal has been connected to matchups against the likes of fellow welterweight contenders in Edwards and Gilbert Burns, but so far, he has not been booked for a fight. And if you ask Masvidal, when he does eventually step back into the Octagon, he won’t be fighting against Edwards next.

Instead, Colby Covington was given the rematch and he will fight Usman at UFC 266, a decision that Edwards does not agree with as he believes he deserved it instead.

UFC welterweight Colby Covington trashed “loser” Leon Edwards after beating Nate Diaz, saying “there’s no honor in beating a guy like that.” Edwards defeated Diaz via unanimous decision at UFC 263 in June, but while the Brit clearly won the first four rounds of the fight, most fans only remember the fifth round where Diaz rocked “Rocky” with a big punch and nearly finished him. In the end, Edwards was awarded the win and he is now officially on a top-10 fight unbeaten streak, which is why he believes he should be next in line to fight UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. However, Covington is confident that he is deserving of being next for the belt.
