UFC vet Leonard Garcia calls for bareknuckle fight with Diego Sanchez amid JacksonWink drama

By Tom Taylor - September 4, 2018

A tidal wave of drama has hit the famous JacksonWink MMA gym in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Leonard Garcia, Donald Cerrone

This drama began when Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, a long-time JacksonWink fighter, cut ties with the gym amid beef with its coaches and disappointment with their choice to train his upcoming opponent Mike Perry. The beef reached new heights when Diego Sanchez, another JacksonWink staple, jumped to the gym’s defense, challenging Cerrone’s claims and even expressing interest in a fight with him.

Now, another former JacksonWink fighter has joined the fracas: WEC and UFC veteran Leonard Garcia.

Speaking on Instagram, Garcia, who is one of Cerrone’s closest friends, challenged Diego Sanchez to a bareknuckle fight over his recent comments.

“Don’t usually say much on social media not really my cup of tea! Watching all this gym thing @jacksonwink_mma and @cowboycerroneunfold! It sucked because I saw it build all the way up then fall into this mess. I saw @diegonightmaresanchezufc get on and say things to Cowboy didn’t sit to well! So here’s what I have to say Diego I respect you always have… thought you were a little crazy but, hey we all are a little bit! Let Cowboy and @platinummikeperry handle there business! That’s signed and dated I’m sure they can hash things out without anyone chiming in! If you feel like you have to get involved then I’m sure @worldbkff would give us free reign to get whatever it is off our chests! Cowboy has a brother that will always be around! #nodisrespect#justsaying #retiredbutnotexpired” – Leonard Garcia on Instagram.

Leonard Garcia has not fought since November of 2014, when he was submitted by Daniel Pineda in the LFC cage. He retired shortly after the fight — though it sounds like that could change soon. Garcia is 18–13–1 in MMA.
