Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold will make his highly anticipated return to the octagon this September when he meets David Branch in the main event of UFC Fight Night Pittsburgh.

UFC officials just broke the news during tonight’s UFC on FOX 25 broadcast.

Luke Rockhold was last seen in action at UFC 199 in June of 2016 where he suffered a first-round knockout loss to Michael Bisping, surrendering his middleweight championship in the process.

Prior to the shocking setback, Rockhold had scored five stoppage victories in a row, which included wins over Costas Philippou, Tim Boetsch, Michael Bisping, Lyoto Machida and Chris Weidman.

Meanwhile, former two division World Series of Fighting champion David Branch made his return to the UFC this past May where he defeated Krzystof Jotko via decision. The win marked Brach’s eleventh straight victory.

UFC Fight Night Pittsburgh takes place September 16 live from PPG Paints Arena. Tickets for the event go on sale August 4.
