Luke Rockhold gets new opponent for UFC 199
With former middleweight champion Chris Weidman pulling out of his title rematch against the champion Luke Rockhold due to an injury, the UFC has been working on getting a new opponent to replace Weidman at UFC 199.
UFC President Dana White announced Wednesday on ESPN’s SportsCenter that Michael Bisping will get a rematch with Luke Rockhold, this time for the UFC middleweight title on June 4.
Rockhold and Bisping first met at UFC Fight Night 55 back in November 2014 with Rockhold finishing the fight by guillotine choke in the second round. Since then, Rockhold has beat former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida, and won the middleweight title in his fight with Weidman at UFC 194.
Bisping is coming off the biggest win of his career after beating former middleweight king Anderson Silva by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 84. Bisping is on a three-fight win streak with his last loss coming from the hands of Rockhold.
