Mackenzie Dern says she has turned the page following struggles in her personal life: “Totally at a better place”
UFC star Mackenzie Dern believes she has finally moved in a positive direction forward following issues in her personal life.
For a long time now, Mackenzie Dern has been seen as a prominent figure in women’s mixed martial arts. Unfortunately, while the 30-year-old has enjoyed plenty of big moments in her career, she’s also had to deal with some problems outside of the cage.
In addition, her most recent outing ended in a TKO loss to Jessica Andrade at UFC 295.

The majority of fight fans are excited to see her return this weekend at UFC 298 against Amanda Lemos. As per Dern herself, she’s back to her normal self after putting her past issues behind her.
Dern’s new chapter
“In these four weeks, I trained more than I was able to train in the two months I prepared for Jessica,” Dern said at Wednesday’s UFC 298 media day. “So, just because that page was turned thankfully financially, emotionally, physically. Just everything, how much I could dedicate to my camp even though it was a short amount of time. I’m so happy where I’m at right now.”
“The page is turned, totally at a better place in my life, and a win or loss is part of life,” Dern said. “It could happen. I’m prepared for anything on Saturday, but I’m definitely way more prepared to be able to give my best and for an athlete, that’s all we could ask for. To be able to go injury free, stress free, and being able to be our best.”
