The family of Mark Coleman have shared a positive update on the UFC legend.

Mark Coleman, UFC

Mark ‘The Hammer’ Coleman (16-10 MMA) ended his MMA career with the UFC back in 2010.

The now 59-year-old was hospitalized after rescuing his parents, Connie and Daniel from a house fire in Fremont, Ohio, this past Tuesday. Following that rescue, the former fighter went back in the home to rescue the family dog, ‘Hammer’, but ultimately the dog died in the fire.

It is believed the fire may have started in the kitchen, but a definitive cause has yet to be determined. The home is believed to be a total loss.

Coleman’s daughter, Morgan, took to Instagram later that same day to advise the former fighter was airlifted to hospital and was getting round-the-clock care:

“Mark Coleman was life-flighted to the hospital where he is currently battling for his life after this heroic act.”

“Our father has always been our hero and means the world to us. He is and always will be a fighter. The strongest and bravest man I know. Please continue to pray for him and our family during this extremely difficult time. We will miss our sweet hammer so deeply.”

Today, a video update on Mark Coleman in his hospital bed was provided and posted to Instagram along with the caption:

“Update: this is Kenzie. God is good. Miracles do happen. Our dad is breathing on his own. We still have a long road ahead of us but we are truly thankful. We want to thank you all for the love and support from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️”

In the video, Coleman can be heard saying:

“I’m the happiest man in the world. Sweet God, I’m so lucky. I can’t believe my parents are alive. … I had to make a decision, Wes. Because I got out of my room and went to the door and it was already horrible. I couldn’t breathe. I almost had to go outside and I went back in and got them. I can’t believe I got them but I couldn’t find (our dog) Hammer.”

Mark Coleman has 3 daughters, Mackenzie and Morgan, from his previous marriage and Skylar, with his current partner Tina.

A GoFundMe was launched by the daughters on Wednesday to help raise money for medical expenses related to Mark Coleman’s care.

Many fans and fighters alike have shared their well wishes for the recovering UFC Hall of Famer.
