Matt Brown vs. Jake Ellenberger set for UFC 201
With a newly signed 8-fight UFC contract, Matt Brown will be returning to the Octagon sooner rather than later following his UFC 198 loss to Demian Maia earlier this month.
He will be facing Jake Ellenberger at UFC 201 on July 30th in Atlanta Georgia in a pivotal welterweight showdown according to Brett Okamoto.
Brown’s recent loss to Maia returned him to the ‘loss column’ after his 1st round submission win over Tim Means back at UFC 189. Prior to that he suffered back to back decision losses to Robbie Lawler and Johnny Hendricks, ending his 7 fight win streak.
Ellenberger on the other hand is just 1-4 in his last 5, with his most recent fight being a unanimous decision loss to Tarec Saffiedine back in January. Prior to that, Ellenberger was on the wrong end of a highlight reel knockout as Stephen Thompson finished ‘The Juggernaut’ with a wheel kick.
Brown is currently ranked #8 on the UFC’s welterweight rankings, which Ellenberger currently isn’t ranked.
