Holloway had most recently defended his featherweight crown at July’s UFC 240 event in Edmonton, where he scored a unanimous decision victory over former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar.

Aldo believes that, when the cage door closes on Holloway and Volkanovski on December 14, the champion will probably retain his title due to his size, skill and durability. White was in Honolulu, Hawaii this weekend for Trinity Sport Combat’s “Trinity Kings 8” event. In the main event of the card, former Contender Series fighter Alex Munoz defeated Troy Lamson. Munoz is a lightweight prospect from Team Alpha Male who most notably defeated Nick Newell on the Contender Series.

The back and forth started when Holloway channeled his inner Nate Diaz by imitating his now-famous speech directed at Conor McGregor from a few years back. Holloway took exception to Vicente Luque and Stephen Thompson fighting it out for the ‘Nicest Guy in MMA’ title, which was an obvious joke in response to the fact that on the same card at UFC 244, Nate Diaz will fight Jorge Masvidal for the baddest motherf***** championship.

Max Holloway and Khabib Nurmagomedov have been close to sharing the Octagon two times already. Yet, both times it never came to fruition. At UFC 223, Holloway was stepping up on short notice to take on the undefeated Dagestani lightweight champion. However, on fight week he was pulled by the New York State Athletic Commission. Then, at UFC 236, all he needed to do was beat Dustin Poirier to get the shot at Nurmagomedov. Unfortunately, he lost by decision.

Now, the challenger has given his thoughts on the fight in the first interview since the bout was announced. Speaking to EMG Access, Volkanovski sounded extremely confident that he will get his hand raised against Holloway. Not only does Volkanovski believe he will win in impressive fashion, he’s already talking about giving Holloway his rematch once he wins.

The Daily Telegraph confirmed the fight between Holloway and Volkanovski for UFC 245, which takes place December 14 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Journalist Nick Walshaw tweeted the news. Journalist John Hyon Ko was the first to report news of the fight back in August, but now it’s confirmed.
