After all, he did give up his title shot when Holloway got injured and accepted a short-notice fight against Brian Ortega, which he ended up losing.

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto has confirmed that a featherweight title bout between the champion, Max Holloway (20-4) and former UFC lightweight titleholder, Frankie ‘The Answer’ Edgar (23-6-1) has been agreed to for UFC 240 on July 27 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Back at UFC 236, UFC featherweight champ Max Holloway made his debut in the UFC lightweight division, taking on Dustin Poirier for the interim lightweight strap. Unfortunately for the Hawaiian and his ever-growing fanbase, this move to lightweight didn’t go as planned, as he lost a unanimous decision to Poirier and saw his 13-fight win-streak disintegrate in the process. The result was a riveting, five-round battle that left both men bruised and bloodied. In the end, the judges named Dustin Poirier the victor of this bout. Now the interim lightweight champion, Poirier wants his vanquished foe Max Holloway to know how thankful he is for the fight, which earned them both $50,000 Fight of the Night bonuses.

In the main event, featherweight champion, Max Holloway was moving up in weight to take on Dustin Poirier for the interim lightweight title. In the co-main event, Kelvin Gastelum was taking on Israel Adesanya for the interim middleweight title. Ultimately, both fights delivered. Adesanya ended up beating Gastelum by unanimous decision, the same result of the main event where Poirier beat Holloway for a second time and snapped his 13-fight winning streak.
