Jose Aldo explains how Brazilian crowd will impact Max Holloway

bjpenndotcom - June 2, 2017

UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo is currently gearing up for what he hopes will be his first successful title defense as the reigning featherweight champion. In the process of defending his belt for the first time, Aldo is hoping to unify the featherweight and interim featherweight titles. Ahead of the fight, Aldo’s opponent, UFC interim featherweight champion Max Holloway, got his first taste of the Brazilian crowd at Thursday’s open workouts when the crowd chanted ‘You will die’ in Portuguese. While Holloway had no problem embracing the chant, even going as far as to chant it with the crowd, Jose Aldo thinks come fight night ‘Blessed’ is in for a rude awakening.

Max Holloway gives his take on Magana-Cyborg drama

Tom Taylor - May 28, 2017

Earlier this month, the UFC flew the majority of its roster out to Las Vegas, Nevada for a special, weekend-long athletes retreat. Unsurprisingly, this weekend produced several tense moments between fighters. The most high-profile run-in featured UFC strawweight Angela Magana and featherweight star Cris “Cyborg” Justino. The incident, which stemmed from some nasty comments Magana made about Cyborg online, ended with Cyborg punching Magana in the face.

Jose Aldo sustains nasty cut in training, optimistic UFC 212 bout with Holloway won't be affected

Tom Taylor - May 10, 2017

In a little over three weeks’ time, in the main event of UFC 212, Jose Aldo will attempt to unify his undisputed featherweight title with the interim featherweight title of Max Holloway. Unfortunately, Aldo has sustained a pretty significant cut in training – significant enough that it required him to get five stitches. Though this initially sounds like disastrous news for UFC 212’s main event, Aldo assures the fight will go ahead as planned, promising that the placement of the cut renders it a non-issue.

Max Holloway responds to strange, upside-down UFC 212 poster

Tom Taylor - May 9, 2017

Yesterday, the UFC released the official poster for UFC 212, which will be headlined by a featherweight title unification bout between undisputed champ Jose Aldo, and interim champ Max Holloway. This poster, which is half upside-down, half right-side-up, is a bit of a weird one. In the past, we’ve seen other fighters complain about their size, position, and placement on official UFC fight posters. UFC light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier, for example, did so when he first saw the official poster for UFC 210, which showed him, superimposed in front of a massive Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. Given this, some fans expected a negative reaction from Holloway – the upside-down party on this strange UFC 212 poster.

Max Holloway fires at Jose Aldo for delaying title fight

bjpenndotcom - March 28, 2017

After Max Holloway defeated Anthony Pettis via TKO at UFC 206 to win the interim featherweight championship, all signs pointed to Holloway then fighting Jose Aldo for the undisputed featherweight title. While no immediate timetable was given for when the fight would take place, it was reported that the winner of Holloway vs. Pettis would fight Aldo at UFC 208 in Brooklyn. Ultimately, the fight fell through as Aldo looked to move to lightweight to chase a rematch with Conor McGregor. Of course, with McGregor on the sidelines, and reports of a superfight with Floyd Mayweather dominating MMA headlines, Aldo now realizes a rematch may never happen.
