Maycee Barber’s 2020 did not go the way she envisioned. In January at UFC 246, Barber was looking to improve to 9-0 when she took on Roxanne Modafferi. The goal for the 22-year-old was to beat Modafferi, get another win in the summer and fight for the belt at year’s end. Unfortunately for her, she lost the fight by decision and tore her ACL which has kept her out of action for the remainder of the year.

Maycee Barber is set to return to the Octagon on February 13. According to Mexican outlet, Milenio.com, Barber is set to face Alexa Grasso at a Fight Night event on February 13. It is currently unknown if the event will take place in Las Vegas or on Fight Island.

Since she has entered the UFC, Barber, also known as “The Future” has consistently discussed the countdown clock on her phone, where has a mission to become the youngest UFC champion in the history of the sport. In order to do so, Barber will have to break the record held by current light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. While her goal and focus is to become the youngest champion, she feels Paige VanZant wouldn’t have any of the opportunities she currently has if it wasn’t for her place in the UFC.

Apparently, Paige VanZant was considering accepting a fight with Maycee Barber until Barber contacted Vanderford. Now, VanZant is reluctant to reward her behaviour.

There aren’t very many right now, especially females. And I fit that perfectly. Just in terms of the person I want to portray in terms of the sport, I feel like I could fill that.”
