Maycee Barber is set to return to the Octagon on February 13. According to Mexican outlet, Milenio.com, Barber is set to face Alexa Grasso at a Fight Night event on February 13. It is currently unknown if the event will take place in Las Vegas or on Fight Island.

Unfortunately, Barber also sustained a complete ACL tear early in this fight, which will keep her out of action for some time. Barber lost a lopsided decision to Roxanne Modafferi in what was one of the biggest upsets of all-time in UFC history according to the betting odds. Following the loss, Barber took the mic from Rogan before Modafferi did and spoke to the crowd.

Before she got her scheduled fight against Roxanne Modafferi at UFC 246, Maycee Barber was very public and open in her pursuit of a possible fight against Paige VanZant. For whatever the reason, the UFC decided to match Barber against  Modafferi at next weekend’s UFC 246 event, while VanZant will face Amanda Ribas in March. While a fight with VanZant would have been an easy way for more eyes to get on Barber who is ranked 9th in the flyweight division, a fight with Modafferi, who is ranked 7th in the division, makes more sense in Barber’s pursuit of a title.

The UFC has offered flyweight star Paige VanZant a matchup against up-and-comer Maycee Barber, but according to a new report from ESPN, VanZant has declined the offer. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto says the UFC offered VanZant the fight with Barber, but she turned it down.

Maycee Barber wants to fight Paige VanZant. And apparently, she’s been trying to coax VanZant into a fight by sliding into Austin Vanderford’s DMs — Vanderford being VanZant’s husband. Apparently, Paige VanZant was considering accepting a fight with Maycee Barber until Barber contacted Vanderford. Now, VanZant is reluctant to reward her behaviour.

In fact, she plans to realize the same sport-transcending superstardom as Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey — and apparently told UFC President Dana White just that. “I told him that I was gonna be as big, if not bigger than Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey and all of the stars he has,” The 20-year-old told MMA Fighting. “And I am one of his next big stars. There aren’t very many right now, especially females. And I fit that perfectly. Just in terms of the person I want to portray in terms of the sport, I feel like I could fill that.”
