Merab Dvalishvili reveals how he plans on defeating Sean O’Malley if he wins at UFC 299: “Eventually I will take him down”
Merab Dvalishvili believes he knows how to eventually get the better of Sean O’Malley.
Dvalishvili seems to be a no-brainer when it comes to facing the winner of the upcoming bantamweight title bout between O’Malley and Marlon “Chito” Vera. Merab is fresh off an impressive performance in his unanimous decision win over Henry Cejudo. He’ll be keeping a close eye on O’Malley vs. “Chito.”
Merab feels he already knows what he must do if “Sugar” emerges victorious over Vera.
Merab Dvalishvili On How He Can Defeat Sean O’Malley
During an appearance on MIGHTYcast, Merab Dvalishvili said that getting past Sean O’Malley’s punching power is all about being patient (via MMAFighting.com).
“I see [O’Malley] as a dangerous opponent because he has good footwork, he has knockout power, he has a very strong right hand, and he has good timing,” Dvalishvili said on the MIGHTYcast. “I see him as a dangerous fighter. Once he won on the Contender Series and I saw him in the UFC, I wanted to fight him because I want to challenge myself and I’m still looking that way.
“But how I see [the fight playing out], I think I should stay smart, just patient, keep striking and just wait for my time to shoot. If he defends, I let him go and then I’m going to shoot again, make him slow, make him tired, and eventually I will take him down.”
Marab didn’t rule out the possibili5y of “Chito” Vera winning the bout either. He said if Vera pulls off the upset, then he’ll start studying his game in preparation for a championship opportunity. The ultimate goal for Merab is simply to capture UFC gold no matter who he has to face.
