It seems that Eric Albarracin is in Merab Dvalishvili’s corner ahead of his UFC 298 bout against Henry Cejudo.

Earlier this week, ‘Triple C’ formally parted ways with his longtime coach. For the entirety of Henry Cejudo’s UFC career, he has been at the hip of Eric Albarracin. The former wrestler coached the bantamweight to multiple title wins, but their time together will be no more.

The news was revealed in the UFC 298 countdown show, released over the weekend. The program was supposed to feature Henry Cejudo preparing for his bantamweight clash against Merab Dvalishvili, slated for this weekend. However, fans also got to see the former dual-weight champion fire Eric Albarracin as his head trainer.

In the UFC 298 countdown show, the two seemingly ended their time together on good terms. However, Merab Dvalishvili is seemingly determined to get some information out of Eric Albarracin. On social media, ‘The Machine’ showed himself talking to Henry Cejudo’s longtime trainer.

For what it’s worth, Eric Albarracin stated that he wouldn’t give Merab Dvalishvili any information on Henry Cejudo in the brief clip. Still, it seems that the Georgian fighter is determined to work the coach into his camp somehow. In the caption of the post, Dvalishvili stated that Albarracin will be in his corner on fight night at UFC 298. However, whether that’s true or not remains to be seen.

“We have Henry Cejudo’s coach with us and now he’s going to teach us how to beat Henry Cejudo!” Merab Dvalishvili joked alongside Eric Albarracin in a video posted to social media, just days after the coach was fired. “We have a new coach! Bye Henry! Goodbye Henry! He’s my coach now, my coach now. I love my coach!”

Given this news, the UFC 298 bout between Henry Cejudo and Merab Dvalishvili is even more must-see. The bout is a must-win for both men, if they hope to remain in bantamweight title contention. As of now, ‘Triple C’ heads into the bout fresh off a loss to Aljamain Sterling last May.

Meanwhile, ‘The Machine’ is currently riding a nine-fight winning streak. Last defeating Petr Yan last March by unanimous decision, Merab Dvalishvili is confident that he will get a crack at Sean O’Malley with a win. On the opposite end of things, Henry Cejudo has revealed that his UFC 298 return could be his final fight if he loses.
