Michael Bisping is Adamant That Georges St-Pierre Fight Fair at UFC 217

By Justin Golightly - October 19, 2017

UFC 217 is a card that you don’t have to sell, stacked with incredible fights that you don’t need to promote. That’s not going to stop UFC middleweight champion from talking trash to hype up his giant fight with Georges St-Pierre. Not only will it put more eyes on the event, but he’s looking to rent space into St-Pierre’s head. It wasn’t long ago that he brought up Georges St-Pierre’s comments from 2013 talking about aliens. Now, Bisping dug into the vault to bring up drama from UFC 94.

Georges St-Pierre fights Michael Bisping for the middleweight title

“You know [Georges St-Pierre]’s in trouble too. George is in trouble by the commission. The corner got caught rubbing Vaseline all over his back. Someone’s a f-cking idiot in the corner was rubbing Vaseline all over his back. He’s in big f-cking trouble. Big f-cking trouble. How could you f-cking do that? That’s so f-cking stupid.”  Dana White on his UFC 94 Vlog.

If you weren’t watching back then or just need your memory refreshed, Georges St-Pierre was defending his welterweight title against BJ Penn when he was UFC lightweight champion. Long before Conor McGregor challenged Eddie Alvarez, St-Pierre and Penn was a gigantic fight and the first time belt holders fought each other. During the fight, St-Pierre got Vaseline rubbed on him that caused a controversy that still serves as an inside joke so many years later. It even caused the rules to change so only cutmen independent from the team can apply it. It looks like Michael Bisping is conjuring up an entire St-Pierre career retrospective to throw back against him ahead of their November 4th encounter at UFC 217.
