Michael Bisping hearing rumors of superfight with Georges St-Pierre

Newly-crowned UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has walked into a new realm as a fighter.

The veteran who later this month is coming up on the 10th anniversary fighting with the UFC also is tied for the most wins in the UFC with former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.

Both men have won 19 fights in the UFC, however, Bisping remains active while St-Pierre opted to step away from the sport in 2013.

While talking with Ariel Helwani on Monday’s episode of “The MMA Hour,” Helwani brought up talks of a superfight between Bisping and St-Pierre in a fight to determine the most wins in UFC history.

“Fighting Georges St-Pierre, the great Georges St-Pierre, and of course for the title of who has the most wins in UFC history, that along is a fantastic tagline and great promotion,” Bisping said. “Of course, the numbers will be fantastic with Georges St-Pierre. He is a massive, proven draw and at the end of the day, we’ll try to generate the most money as possible.

“I do want to defend the belt and I want to make as much money as I can in the process, so I would be certainly open to sending Georges St-Pierre back to a movie set because I would definitely win and if Georges St-Pierre is listening, buddy anytime you fancy it, just be a man, sign the dotted line and your return will be short-lived.

“Whether it is Georges St-Pierre, Dan Henderson, “Jacare” Souza, whoever it is, please, line them up and I will knock them down.”

Bisping said that no one from the UFC has informed him of any fight with “Rush,” but has been getting some intel from people.

“I have heard a couple little rumors and whispers, a couple of text messages from people saying, ‘Hey, I’m hearing a rumor that GSP wants to fight you.’ ”

Bisping concluded that he respects St-Pierre and even says that if fighters new to the game want to model themselves after someone, GSP is an amazing character to follow and try to be like both in and outside of the Octagon.
