Michael Bisping names the UFC fighter he wants to see Michael Page matched up with next: “It would be a lot of fun”
Michael Bisping is naming the UFC fighter he wants to see Michael Page matched up with next.
Page, the former Bellator star, who became a free agent, subsequently signed with the UFC in December of 2023.
It was at UFC 299 that Michael Page (22-2 MMA) made his promotional debut against Kevin Holland (25-11 MMA) in a welterweight bout. The result was a unanimous decision victory for ‘Venom’.
Michael Bisping, speaking on his YouTube channel, shared his thoughts on who he’d like to see the 36-year-old Page fight next:
“Ian Machado Garry is at No. 6. I think you leapfrog Michael Page right up to a No. 6 fight with Ian Machado Garry.”
The undefeated Ian Machado Garry (14-0 MMA) is hot off a split-decision victory over Geoff Neal (15-6 MMA) this past February at UFC 298.
Continuing, the 45-year-old UFC commentator said (h/t MMAJunkie):
“As a fan, I would love to see that fight. They’re both very tall. Ian Garry is 6’3″, Michael Page is 6’3″. They’re both strikers. They’re not going to wrestle. We’re going to see two tremendously talented strikers throwing down, and it would be a lot of fun.”
Concluding, Michael Bisping believes the winner of Page/Garry would then fight current welterweight champion Leon Edwards (22-3 MMA) next:
“The winner of that fight between Michael Page and Ian Garry potentially then would get to fight Leon Edwards in a stadium in the U.K. Could you imagine that? For all of those reasons, Ian Garry, Michael Page, take my money, sign me up.”
‘Rocky’, 32, is on a massive winning streak, his last loss, by unanimous decision, came all the way back in December of 2015 against Kamaru Usman (20-4 MMA).
Do you agree with Bisping that a Michael Page vs. Ian Garry is the fight for the UFC to make next?
