Michael Bisping responds to Georges St-Pierre’s update on UFC negotiations

By bjpenndotcom - October 27, 2016

While reports have continued to emerge over the past several weeks that former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre would be returning to the Octagon at UFC 206 in Toronto, with St-Pierre himself promising fans news regarding his return in ‘a few weeks maximum’.

Unfortunately however, while St-Pierre was hoping to deliver on his promise of news of his return, shortly after ‘Rush’ gave the interview he then revealed in a separate interview that he had terminated his contract with the UFC, and was now a free agent. Despite that, St-Pierre remained in Las Vegas, with many speculating that St-Pierre remained in Vegas to negotiate with the UFC brass.

Unfortunately, this week, St-Pierre took to social media to reveal that negotiations with the UFC hadn’t gone well, and that he wouldn’t be able to accept a fight with Bisping at UFC 206 in Toronto.

“Nothing would make me more happy in the world to fight you in Toronto, Michael. Last week I met with Ari, and I made peace with Dana [White]. I tried to resolve things, but unfortunately, right now it’s not happening. Hopefully, things will change soon. Thank you”

Now, Bisping has taken to social media to deliver St-Pierre a message of his own:

While St-Pierre of course has been MIA from the Octagon since his 2013 split decision win over Johnny Hendricks, Bisping has been on a tear of the UFC’s middleweight division in 2016, building on the 2-fight win streak he started in 2015 by picking up wins over Anderson Silva, Luke Rockhold, and most recently Dan Henderson. Over the course of the wins in 2016, Bisping won, and defended, the UFC middleweight championship. As if he hadn’t been busy enough, a potential win over St-Pierre would certainly cement Bisping’s place as one of the best fighters in the game today.

Only time will tell if these two will ever fight, or if St-Pierre will ever return to the Octagon.
