Michael Bisping reveals plans for his next fight
Since Michael Bisping defeated Anderson Silva in the main event of ‘UFC London’ back in February, there has been much speculation as to where Bisping falls in the UFC middleweight title picture.
While Yoel Romero became the #1 contender at middleweight after defeating Jacare Souza at UFC 194, a failed drug test has landed Romero a 6 month suspension. The way Bisping sees is, he has earned the right to fight the winner of UFC 199’s Rockhold vs. Weidman rematch.
He spoke to MMAJunkie:
“Two days after my fight with Anderson, me and Dana White had a lengthy discussion on the phone. Obviously I told him, ‘listen I would love a title shot,’ I pitched my case if you will, told him I deserve it. And he said lets see how it all plays out by that he means lets see what happens with this title fight that’s coming up between Weidman and Rockhold, and see if the landscape makes sense I guess after that fight. I think it does, I think I deserve a shot.”
“A number of months have passed since that fight now, and the UFC haven’t been in touch with a different fighter. So I’m hoping that is going to be my next fight. I know Yoel Romero was probably due to be next in line, but shame on him, he failed his steroids test, and is serving his suspension right now, so that takes him out of the running. Well I just beat Anderson Silva. I know that had Anderson beaten me, he would have got the next title shot, so I think it’s only fair that I get the same prize.”
