Georges St-Pierre didn’t owe us or the UFC anything, but that didn’t stop him from coming back. The former welterweight king walks back into the Octagon tonight to keep his legacy in contention and to attempt to capture a belt in a higher division he spent years on top of. No doubt it’s a huge fight between St-Pierre and Michael Bisping, so huge that Jon Jones couldn’t resist talking about it. From one greatest-of-all-time candidate to another, Jones sent out a message to St-Pierre ahead of his fight at UFC 217. Hey @GeorgesStPierre you’ve always been one of my biggest inspirations. We are just a day away from UFC 217, which is surely one of the biggest cards of the year. With the UFC’s return to Madison Square Garden in New York, the stacked card will feature three title fights. The main event of the evening will feature UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping defending his title against former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. This is a huge matchup as it is St-Pierre’s first fight in the UFC since November of 2013 where he won a close and controversial split decision title fight against Johny Hendricks. This also marks the first time “Rush” will be fighting at middleweight in his professional MMA career.

Justin Golightly - November 3, 2017

Georges St-Pierre coming back to fight Michael Bisping is a huge fight. Rankings, St-Pierre’s hiatus, and Robert Whittaker’s interim belt aside, a fight like this conjures old superfight discussions of a bygone era. During St-Pierre’s welterweight prime, the Moby Dick of fights was a showdown between him and middleweight king Anderson Silva. We never were able to see that spectacle, but now we get the next best thing. It’s a fighters, fighter. That’s why it’s so interesting to hear UFC fighter’s picks on who they think will come out on top. “Yeah, come on, come on, I gotta’ go with [Georges St-Pierre]. Look, I just wrestled with the man too. He’s big too. He’s bigger than I thought he was. He done got big over the years, boy. He’s big, he’s strong, and he’s just going to outwork [Michael Bisping]. He’s got the right mindset going into this. He’s preparing right. I mean yeah, Bisping will be able to scramble off the bottom a couple of times. Who knows, maybe Georges will get more tired now that he’s been out for so long, But, when you look at the skills, I’m saying that Georges blows him out of the water.” — Kevin Lee

If you saw UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping and UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal and their exchanges backstage leading up to UFC 217, you would think that the two were meeting in the Octagon on Saturday night. However, this isn’t the case as Bisping is set to take on former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre in the main event of the evening while Masvidal will look to establish himself as one of the next welterweight title contenders as he meets Stephen Thompson in the Octagon.

Michael Bisping Wants His Next Title Defense to be in Manchester

Justin Golightly - November 1, 2017

The UFC is coming back to Australia in February for UFC 221. According to a report by Perth Now, Robert Whittaker is scheduled to appear, which definitely makes sense for the hard-hitting Aussie. It was natural to assume that UFC interim middleweight champ Whittaker and whoever comes out the actual middleweight champion at UFC 217, would attempt to unify the titles at UFC 221. However, Michael Bisping put a cork in those plans if he’s still got the strap after this Saturday. “Yeah, yeah [UFC 221 on February 11th is a quick turnaround]. I’m not awfully keen on fighting down in Australia. I mean, my wife’s Australian. I’ve fought in Australia three or four times already from one career. My next fight, if I have any say in it, is going to be in Manchester. Obviously, I don’t own the UFC, but If I beat Georges [St-Pierre] I’d like to think I still get a bit of say in it. I’d like that to be in Manchester, but we’ll see.”

Tom Taylor - November 1, 2017

For months, UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal and UFC middleweight champ Michael Bisping have exchanged venomous trash talk in interviews and on social media. Well, it finally happened.

Tyron Woodley Claims He's Got the Next UFC Middleweight Title Shot after UFC 217

Justin Golightly - October 31, 2017

No tragic curve ball has derailed any of the three title fights stacked up top for UFC 217, that means we’re only four days away from huge fights with even bigger implications. The cherry perched atop the violence smorgasbord is Georges St-Pierre challenging Michael Bisping for the UFC middleweight title. The UFC and St-Pierre have gone on record saying if he wins, he’ll defend against interim middleweight champ Robert Whittaker, but Tyron Woodley has other ideas. “I think my next opponent is going to be the winner of Bisping and Georges St-Pierre. I think that’s my next fight. Victorious in that fight, I think you see me move up to a different weight class. At one point in time, you look at 1, 2 and 3, and I beat them. I beat 1, 2, 3, 5. Kelvin Gastelum and Johny Hendricks were in the mix, I beat them as well. Tarec Saffiedine, who just got bumped out [of the top 15], Dong Hyun Kim, who just got bumped out. “People have short term memories on what my resume is, and my finishing ability. Out of 17, 18 victories, 11 of those were finishes, 9 of those in the first round.”

Coach Defends 'Naturally Ripped' Georges St-Pierre from Bisping's PED Accusations

Justin Golightly - October 28, 2017

Michael Bisping has said everything he can in the lead up to UFC 217 to tear down Georges St-Pierre as an opponent. He’s brought up stories and controversies from many years ago, he’s poked holes in his record, and he’s accused him of using steroids. All is fair in love and war, right? Georges St-Pierre’s coach Firas Zahabi recently spoke out about Bisping’s comments and refuted them. He insists he’s drug free and just that good. “[Michael Bisping is making steroid accusations] because Georges [St-Pierre]. About 10 to 20 percent of the population is naturally ripped. Georges just happens to be one of those people. You look at him as he was growing up, he’s just naturally ripped. He’s been tested, he’s volunteered to be tested, and he’s paid out of his own pocket to be tested and for his opponent to be tested. He’s never failed one single test. Just because somebody’s lean and extremely competent in fighting doesn’t mean they’re on drugs. That’s the truth.”

Cody Garbrandt Trashes Michael Bisping After Main Event Comments

Justin Golightly - October 26, 2017

The UFC has put together two impressive UFC conference calls back-to-back. Not only did Cody Garbrandt double down on his challenge to Demetrious Johnson, he declared that his fight with TJ Dillashaw at UFC 217 is the real main event. Today, Michael Bisping responded to the dig with a comeback of his own. Of course, it can’t end there. The UFC bantamweight champion just took to Twitter to tell Bisping his fight is only a draw because of Georges St-Pierre. Garbrandt: The Bisping/GSP fight sells on a gimmick. We’re only nine days away from the illustrious return of Georges St-Pierre, who will challenge Michael Bisping for the UFC middleweight title. Michael Bisping Details Why The UFC Would Prefer Georges St-Pierre Win at UFC 217

Justin Golightly - October 25, 2017

We’re edging closer and closer to the return of Georges St-Pierre at UFC 217, who’ll be challenging Michael Bisping for the middleweight title. The stakes are gigantic. If St-Pierre loses, Bisping gets a huge notch in his legacy and GSP has said he’ll retire. If St-Pierre wins though, he’ll be cemented once again as one of if not the greatest of all time and he goes on to defend against Robert Whittaker. …Or will he? Michael Bisping thinks there is a much greater master plan by the UFC brass that he is set to spoil. “[Georges St-Pierre] keeps talking about, ‘It’s in the contract. It’s in the contract that I fight [Robert] Whittaker,’ but he ain’t. He ain’t gonna’ fight Whittaker if it’s in the contract or not. I believe it is in the contract but all he’s gotta do is say, ‘I don’t fancy doing that and if you want me to fight again and maybe sell a lot of pay-per-views, it’s gotta be someone else.’ The UFC would fold, I’ve got to imagine. He wants to beat me, go back down to welterweight, beat Tyron [Woodley], and then face Conor [McGregor], beat all three, and then retire and make a ton of money. And the UFC probably wants that to happen. By that I don’t mean beat Conor, I mean beat me. Beat me, then either beat Woodley or go straight to Conor.”

VIDEO | Georges St-Pierre and Michael Bisping Drop the Puck in Montreal to Two Very Different Reactions

Justin Golightly - October 14, 2017

Crowds were deafening last night at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec. It’s the same arena that Georges St-Pierre defended the UFC welterweight title against Josh Koscheck, Carlos Condit, and Nick Diaz. As soon as he walked out, it was clear he’s still a Canadian mega star. The audience welcomed its UFC prizefighter as he arrived to drop down the puck for the Toronto Maple Leafs/Montreal Canadiens game. His opponent Michael Bisping, predictably did not get the same treatment.  Bisping booed, GSP cheered in Montreal. Shocking, I know #UFC217 pic.twitter.com/j5itgJ75WT
