Tom Taylor - March 7, 2017

Shortly after this massive – and polarizing – fight was announced, the UFC sat St-Pierre and Bisping down beside each other at a press conference in Las Vegas. During this press conference, St-Pierre was his typical, civil self, while Bisping opted to turn up the trash talk in an attempt to get into his foe’s head.

Michael Bisping on Woodley-Thompson: If they’re the best welterweights in the world, then I should f*ck up GSP
Tom Taylor - March 6, 2017
Earlier this month, we learned that middleweight champion Michael Bisping would next defend his title against former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. Given that St-Pierre stands out as the best welterweight in the history of our sport, this fight is a big deal for Bisping. Heading into this yet unscheduled contest, however, the middleweight champ is all confidence. His confidence only ballooned over the weekend, when he watched Tyron Woodley and Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson rematch for the UFC welterweight title in the main event of UFC 209. This fight, which Woodley won with a controversial majority decision, was an undeniably slow one, and one that did not reflect especially well on the welterweight division.

Michael Bisping defends choice to fight Georges St-Pierre over Yoel Romero
Tom Taylor - March 2, 2017
Later this year, at a to-be-determined date, UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping will defend his title. He will not, however, defend that title against Yoel Romero, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, Luke Rockhold, Chris Weidman, Gegard Mousasi, Robert Whittaker, or any other member of the middleweight top-10. Instead, he’ll defend it against former welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre, who will be returning from a hiatus of several years. While the announcement of this fight generated excitement among some fans, it also generated plenty of backlash, as it deprives the middleweight division’s top contenders – namely Yoel Romero – of the title shots they’ve earned. Bisping, however, is not all that sympathetic. On a recent episode of UFC Tonight, the champ explained his choice to fight Georges St-Pierre over Yoel Romero. His words (via FoxSports).

The fight lined up with oddsmakers predictions that a Bisping-GSP fight was the most likely fight for the former champ in his return fight to the Octagon. Following the announcement of the fight, Bisping spoke to TMZ to discuss the situation saying:

Michael Bisping: I don't think we'll ever see Luke Rockhold again
Tom Taylor - February 26, 2017
Back in June of 2016, a widely unheralded Michael Bisping shocked the world by clubbing Luke Rockhold to a first-round knockout, capturing the UFC middleweight title as a result. Since this win, Bisping has defended the middleweight title with a hard-fought decision win over the retiring Dan Henderson. Rockhold, meanwhile, has not been seen in the Octagon since. It is worth noting, of course, that Rockhold was briefly scheduled for a November rematch with Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, but was unfortunately forced out of this fight with an injury. Despite the legitimate reason for Rockhold’s lengthy absence from the cage, however, Bisping doesn’t believe he’ll ever return.
Michael Bisping & Yoel Romero's manager trade verbal shots
bjpenndotcom - February 23, 2017
UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has continued to find his name in headlines despite the fact that he is currently sidelined with a knee injury sustained in his UFC 204 title defense against Dan Henderson, where he picked up a unanimous decision win, defending his title for the first time. While UFC President Dana White recently stated that when Bisping is ready to return to the Octagon, he will be defending his title against Yoel Romero, recently released odds indicate the Bisping is the most likely opponent for former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre in his highly anticipated return fight.
Jacare Souza goes OFF on 'stupid' Michael Bisping
bjpenndotcom - February 22, 2017
By now, UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping is no stranger to being called out by his fellow middleweights. Since winning the title in June of 2016 by knocking out Luke Rockhold on just two weeks notice, the champ has repeatedly found himself called out by the middleweight division’s top contenders, including Yoel Romero, Jacare Souza, and Anderson Silva to name just a few.
Manager: Michael Bisping is "absolutely ducking Yoel Romero right now"
Tom Taylor - February 22, 2017
Back in November, streaking Cuban contender Yoel Romero knocked out former middleweight champion Chris Weidman with a third-round flying knee, earning himself a shot at the current middleweight champ Michael Bisping in the process. Regrettably, however, Romero’s title shot still hasn’t been booked, and there seems to be increasing reason for him to worry it won’t happen, as Bisping flirts with the idea of super fights with Georges St-Pierre and Tyron Woodley.
Firas Zahabi eyes Conor McGregor, Michael Bisping for Georges St-Pierre's return
Tom Taylor - February 21, 2017
Last week, we learned that after months of rumors, reports, negotiations and stalemates, The UFC and Georges St-Pierre had agreed on the terms for a new contract. Given that St-Pierre is widely considered the best welterweight of all time – and one of the best fighters ever, period – this was an undeniably exciting development. Now that we know St-Pierre will actually be returning to the Octagon, the next big question is who he’ll fight upon his return. Though there are plenty of interesting options for him inside the welterweight division he once ruled, his coach Firas Zahabi is most intrigued by fights with UFC middleweight champ Michael Bisping, and lightweight champ Conor McGregor.
Michael Bisping: Anderson Silva is "tarnishing his legacy"
Tom Taylor - February 17, 2017
Last weekend, in the co-main event of UFC 208, former middleweight champion and bona fide MMA legend Anderson Silva took on dangerous middleweight contender Derek Brunson. Despite the propensity for violent finishes shared by both men, this fight ended up being a slow one, as Brunson was hesitant to wade in on the venomous counter-striker Silva, and Silva waited for counter-punching opportunities that were almost non-existent. In the end, Silva would leave this fight with a unanimous decision win – though many fans and pundits felt the decision should have gone the other way. In the opinion of UFC middleweight champ Michael Bisping, however, it doesn’t matter that Silva won, as the fashion in which he won could ultimately damage is incredible legacy.
Michael Bisping explains why he's asking for money fights: I want "a big gigantic payday I can retire on."
Tom Taylor - February 14, 2017
Over the last few months, UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has generated a bit of controversy by asking for lucrative “money fights” and expressing disinterest in fights with his division’s top contenders. He has recently chased a fight with welterweight champ Tyron Woodley, for example, while simultaneously shrugging off calls for a bout with streaking middleweight contender Yoel Romero. On Monday’s episode of The MMA Hour, the champ explained his desire for money fights to host Ariel Helwani. His words (transcribed by MMAMania.com) :
Luke Rockhold trashes "coward" Michael Bisping, hopes for summer return against "Jacare"
Tom Taylor - February 14, 2017
In June of 2016, an overconfident Luke Rockhold was knocked out by Michael Bisping in one of the year’s biggest upsets. This massive upset loss marked the end of what looked like it could have been a pretty dominant reign as UFC middleweight champ. Later that year, Rockhold was given the opportunity to bounce back from this ugly loss when he was scheduled for a rematch with top middleweight contender Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, who he bested back in 2011. Regrettably, Rockhold sustained a leg injury in training, and was forced out of this fight. He has not been seen in action since.
