Michael Bisping Agrees to Fight Yoel Romero, Hopes for Spring Date
Tom Taylor - November 18, 2016
Not long ago, UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping suggested he would turn down a fight with contender Yoel Romero, even if Romero beat former champ Chris Weidman at UFC 205. His reluctance to accept this potential fight was based on Romero’s failing a drug test in early 2016 – which was ultimately deemed to be the result of his consumption of a tainted supplement. “If Yoel beats Chris, I honestly don’t think I’ll fight Yoel, because he tested positive for steroids,” he said on his podcast The Countdown with Michael Bisping. “I read an article recently that said that it takes years for the advantages of taking steroids to get out of your system. Just because you don’t test positive anymore doesn’t mean you’ll lose all the extra muscle and stuff like that that you were able to achieve. So I think he needs longer, I really do, and I don’t see why he should be rewarded.”
Yoel Romero ridicules Michael Bisping on social media
Russell Ess - November 17, 2016
The next middleweight title bout could be a matchup between champion Michael Bisping and challenger Yoel Romero. After a devastating finish over former middleweight champion Chris Weidman at UFC 205 over the weekend, Romero and Bisping had a little exchange during the “Soldier of God’s” post-fight Octagon interview as “The Count” was in attendance hosting the fight recaps for UFC on FOX.
Michael Bisping rips "biggest cheating mother****r" Yoel Romero
bjpenndotcom - November 17, 2016
UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has always been a strong opposer of PEDs in MMA. When it comes to the topic, ‘The Count’ is never afraid to speak his mind on the matter, frequently throwing shade at fighters, especially ones he has fought, who have failed drug tests. On the heels of Yoel Romero’s phenomenal UFC 205 win over Chris Weidman this past Saturday, Bisping wants Romero to be drug tested once per week leading up to their fight given that he has failed a drug test in the past. With that being said, Romero’s failed drug test was deemed the result of tainted supplements, and resulted in only a brief suspension.

It looks like another Michael Bisping’s son is well on his way to being the next champion in the family. UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping’s 15-year-old son Callum competed in the 2016 SJJIF World Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Long Beach, California over the weekend and posted a great result.
Michael Bisping sends Chris Weidman a message following UFC 205 loss to Yoel Romero
Chris Taylor - November 14, 2016
Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman suffered a shocking third-round loss to surging contender Yoel Romero this past Saturday night at UFC 205 in New York. Weidman had a terrific opening round against the Cuban wrestling specialist but Yoel was able to turn the tide midway through round two.
Michael Bisping could retire if he loses UFC title
bjpenndotcom - November 12, 2016
While Michael Bisping currently reigns as the UFC middleweight champion, ‘The Count’ knows, no one can fight forever. On the heels of his impressive unanimous decision win over Dan Henderson in Manchester, England last month in the main event of UFC 204, Bisping is currently waiting to find out who the next challenger to his middleweight title will be. In the meantime, it looked as though Bisping would be fighting former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre at UFC 206 in Toronto, although negotiations between St-Pierre and the UFC failed, leaving Bisping sidelined as he recovered from injuries sustained in his UFC 204 fight with Dan Henderson.
EXCLUSIVE | Yoel Romero on Michael Bisping: I’m Not Sure If He's a Coward or Not
Tom Taylor - November 11, 2016
Tomorrow night, on the main card of the historic UFC 205, former Olympic wrestler Yoel Romero will take on former middleweight champion Chris Weidman. In advance of this pivotal showdown, the Cuban contender joined Chris Taylor on BJPenn.com’s Rapid Fire to discuss the bout, and what it could mean for his fighting future. Though streaking middleweight contender Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza is likely to have something to say about it, this Weidman vs. Romero bout is likely to produce the next challenger for reigning middleweight champion Michael Bisping.
Yoel Romero Responds to Michael Bisping's Reluctance to Fight Him
Tom Taylor - November 9, 2016
This weekend, on the main card of UFC 205, middleweight contender Yoel Romero will look to extend his win-streak to a whopping 8 by defeating former champ Chris Weidman. If he’s able to do so impressively, it’ll be difficult to deny him a title shot against reigning middleweight champion Michael Bisping. Unfortunately for Romero, Bisping does not seem to be interested in this fight. On a recent episode of his podcast The Countdown with Michael Bisping & Luis J Gomez, Bisping asserted that he’d be hesitant to fight Romero, even if he defeats Weidman at UFC 205. The champ’s reluctance is based on Romero’s recent brush with USADA, which was ultimately deemed to be the result of his consumption of a tainted supplement.
Ronaldo 'Jacare' Souza Tells Champ Michael Bisping to "Stop Running"
Tom Taylor - November 8, 2016
Not long ago, top middleweight contender Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza was expected to take on Luke Rockhold in the main event of the UFC’s November 26 return to Melbourne, Australia. When Rockhold was forced out of the bout with an injury, however, Jacare was left without a dance partner. Though this injury was certainly an unfortunate twist, it also left Jacare in the perfect position to call out UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping. Unfortunately for the Brazilian contender, however, Bisping shut down these callouts, explaining that he was still recovering from injuries sustained in his razor close October title defense against Dan Henderson.
Michael Bisping says he will refuse to defend his title against Yoel Romero
Chris Taylor - November 6, 2016
UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping is coming off of a hard-fought decision victory over bitter rival Dan Henderson, which “The Count” earned in the main event of UFC 204 last month in Manchester, England. Bisping was hoping to make a quick turnaround and fight at UFC 206 this December in Toronto against former welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre, however, “Rush” was not able to reach a deal with the new UFC ownership group and the fight unfortunately fell through.
Michael Bisping goes off on Instagram critics
bjpenndotcom - November 5, 2016
UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping is an extremely polarizing figure. ‘The Count’ is never one to shy away from speaking his mind, even when it means he faces backlash from his fellow fighters, or the MMA community. For example, after his UFC 204 win over Dan Henderson in Manchester, England, last month, Bisping took time out of his post-fight Octagon interview to shred the rest of the top ranked middleweights. Despite a 5-fight win streak that has seen him go 3-0 over the course of 2016, winning the middleweight championship by knocking out Luke Rockhold on just two weeks notice before then defending the belt just months later by defeating Dan Henderson via unanimous decision in the main event of UFC 204.
Michael Bisping Says He Won't Fight Yoel Romero if He Beats Chris Weidman at UFC 205
Tom Taylor - November 4, 2016
Since winning the UFC middleweight title with a June decimation of Luke Rockhold, Michael Bisping has received plenty of flack for his alleged tendency to pick and choose his opponents. Instead of taking on a legitimate contender in his first defense, the Brit took on a 46-year-old Dan Henderson in an effort to avenge an ugly 2009 knockout loss. Once this title defense was in the books, Bisping set his sights on title fights with Georges St-Pierre, a welterweight who has not fought in several years, and Nick Diaz, a welterweight riding a similar layoff who has not won a fight since 2o11. The champ then found himself on the receiving end of some serious fan backlash when he refused to fight top middleweight contender Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in the same time frame. Though the champ has since done his best to justify his callouts of GSP and Diaz, and subsequent reluctance to fight Jacare, many fans are disappointed with his selectiveness in terms of possible opponents.
Michael Bisping explains why he won't fight Jacare Souza, but would fight Georges St-Pierre
bjpenndotcom - November 3, 2016
Several weeks ago, it appeared as though UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping could very well find himself stepping into the Octagon in December at UFC 206 to fight former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre. While the fight appeared to be all but official, St-Pierre released a message to Bisping via social media in which he informed ‘The Count’ that while he hoped to return to the Octagon at the event, negotiations with the UFC didn’t go well, and he won’t be able to fight at the highly anticipated Toronto event. Bisping, understandably bummed out over the news, released a statement in which he informed fans that he has his heart set on fighting at UFC 206, and would be willing to fight anyone, preferably Nick Diaz.
Michael Bisping: 'If you’re paying attention, Nick, do what Georges didn’t'
Russell Ess - November 2, 2016
Michael Bisping has been campaigning for a fight for UFC 206, which comes just a little over two months since his tough five-round championship fight against Dan Henderson. With Georges St-Pierre’s name as a possible opponent, Bisping was more than excited to get back to competition against one of the greatest to ever fight in the Octagon. However, GSP and the UFC could not reach any agreement for the Canadian’s return.

England’s Michael “The Count” Bisping has had an incredible 2016. It’s been so incredible, in fact, that he might just be a shoo-in for 2016’s Fighter of the Year. The Count’s 2016 began with a tooth and nail decision defeat of middleweight legend Anderson Silva. From there, the English veteran capitalized on a last-minute opportunity to replace an injured Chris Weidman against middleweight champion Luke Rockhold, stealing the middleweight crown with a first-round KO. Finally and most recently, in the main event of UFC 204, Bisping avenged the ugliest loss of his career by taking a decision defeat from retiring legend Dan Henderson in front of thousands of English fans. Safe to say that very few fighters have accomplished what Bisping has in the cage this year.
Chris Weidman on Michael Bisping: He’d Be an Underdog To All The Top 10 Guys
Tom Taylor - October 30, 2016
On November 12, on the main card of UFC 205, former middleweight champion Chris Weidman will fight for the first time since he surrendered the title to Luke Rockhold last December. He’ll be returning to action against the dangerous Yoel Romero, and if he’s impressive in this return, he might just earn himself another crack at the middleweight throne. Unless the middleweight division experiences a tectonic shift in the next few months, that would mean a fight with England’s Michael Bisping, who won the title with a first round knockout of Rockhold in June. Despite Bisping’s status as the champion, and the fact that he recently defeated MMA legend Dan Henderson to retain that title, Weidman is extremely confident in his chances against the Brit. In fact, he wouldn’t favor the current champion over any of the UFC’s top-10 middleweights.
