England’s Michael “The Count” Bisping has had an incredible 2016. It’s been so incredible, in fact, that he might just be a shoo-in for 2016’s Fighter of the Year.

The Count’s 2016 began with a tooth and nail decision defeat of middleweight legend Anderson Silva. From there, the English veteran capitalized on a last-minute opportunity to replace an injured Chris Weidman against middleweight champion Luke Rockhold, stealing the middleweight crown with a first-round KO. Finally and most recently, in the main event of UFC 204, Bisping avenged the ugliest loss of his career by taking a decision defeat from retiring legend Dan Henderson in front of thousands of English fans. Safe to say that very few fighters have accomplished what Bisping has in the cage this year.

The amazing thing about Bisping’s 2016 is that he’s been plenty busy outside the Octagon too. In addition to his occasional work as an analyst, he’s also been busy with a role in the latest instalment of the Vin Diesel helmed xXx franchise: Return of Xander Cage.

In this film, which is scheduled for a North American release in January of 2017, Bisping plays a character called Hawk. He’ll appear on the big screen alongside Hollywood stars like Samuel L. Jackson, Nina Dobrev, Ruby Rose, and Toni Colette, martial arts stars in Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa, footballer Neymar, and of course, Vin Diesel. Bisping’s role in the film was initially expected to be filled by UFC superstar Conor McGregor, but McGregor eventually opted out to focus on training.

Take a look at Bisping’s character in the film in the poster below.

At the moment, it’s not known when Bisping will next defend the UFC middleweight title. For a time, it looked as though the Brit might defend against returning welterweight legend Georges St-Pierre at UFC 206 in Toronto. Now that that possibility has been nixed, he’s been calling for a fight with Stockton, California’s Nick Diaz. If this fight with Diaz doesn’t materialize, Bisping’s next defense will likely see him take on the winner of Chris Weidman and Yoel Romero, who fight on November 12, or the winner of Luke Rockhold and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, who fight on November 26.
