Colby Covington slams ‘trash’ Michael Page after UFC 299 debut win: “That wasn’t entertaining”
Former interim UFC champion Colby Covington wasn’t impressed by Michael Page’s performance over the weekend.
The man known to fans as ‘Venom’ finally debuted in the UFC on Saturday night against Kevin Holland. Pre-fight, the bout was viewed as an interesting battle between dynamic strikers. Instead, Micheal Page wound up largely dominating ‘Trailblazer’, earning a unanimous decision victory. The win impressed many and landed the new signee in the welterweight rankings.
However, one Colby Covington wasn’t very impressed with the bout. Speaking in a recent interview with Submission Radio, ‘Chaos’ was asked about UFC 299 and Michael Page vs. Kevin Holland. There, Covington largely blasted the former Bellator fighter, while also making fun of ‘Trailblazer’ in the interview as well.
The main criticism from Colby Covington was that the welterweight fight on Saturday was very boring. In the interview, ‘Chaos’ stated that Michael Page’s entrance and performance, only work when you’re at the top of the division. However, Covington feels that the British fighter is a “bum”, who previously lost to Mike Perry.
Given all that, Covington doesn’t feel that Michael Page will go far in the UFC welterweight division. However, that doesn’t mean that the wrestler won’t fight the striker if he’s offered. Much the opposite, Covington believes fighting the British star will be easy money.

“The guy is trash, he’s a bum.” Colby Covington stated in the interview when asked about Michael Page’s UFC debut against Kevin Holland. “Look at his last fight before that, he got beat by a guy that fights in Indian casinos. He got beat by Mike Perry, we saw how the Mike Perry experience went in the UFC. Guy got his nose crooked, smashed and knocked out like three or four times in a row. It just shows, I mean the guy’s just hype.”
He continued, “They’re trying to hype him up, they’re giving him a guy in Kevin Holland who’s a complete scrub. I mean a 50/50 fighter at best in the division, and that’s the best you can do? That pathetic fight and pathetic walkout, like that wasn’t entertaining man. No dude, like it doesn’t work.”
“It only works when you’re good and at the top of the division.” Colby Covington concluded his thoughts on Michael Page. “Not when you’re fighting scrubs that shouldn’t even be fighting in the UFC in the first place. I didn’t make anything of it. I just saw another UFC easy money paycheck if the UFC wants to give me that in the future.”
