Mariya Agapova issues apology to UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard for her recent remarks
UFC fighter Mariya Agapova has apologized for her recent remarks that were directed at UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard.
While she may be seen as a big prospect in the women’s flyweight division, we haven’t seen Mariya Agapova compete since 2022. In a since-deleted post, she couldn’t hold in her frustration any longer.

“I have two more fights under my contract in the UFC,” Agapova said. “Because of the contract, I can’t fight in other places and promotions to make money. I also train two-three times a day, because of this, I am not able to get a job. Thank you very much to my friends, sponsors, and tattoo clients for their help. But I urgently need a contract for the fight. My documents have been in order for a month now, and it’s still not clear when I’ll sign the contract for the fight. Let’s make some noise. Write to the UFC that you miss my fights.
“When is the fight?” she concluded. “Don’t ask me that! Let’s ask the UFC [Matchmaker] Mick Maynard. WHEN WILL MY FIGHT BE HAPPENING???”

Now, she’s quickly retracted what she said in a statement on Instagram.
Agapova apologizes
“I would like to address to all my fans and MMA commuinty. Yesterday I wrote a post about me not fighting for a long time. Unfortunately I got very emotional and wrote it in a moment of desperation.
“The truth is that I have not fought because I had reconstructive surgery of the knee and then I could not fight because of my green card process. I want to apologize for my post to all my fans and to @mickmaynard2 personally.”
