Former UFC champion Miesha Tate’s fight with Julia Avila this Saturday could be her last. ‘Cupcake’ has been out of the octagon since a unanimous decision loss to Lauren Murphy last July. That was Miesha Tate’s first down at flyweight, and she quickly announced plans to return to bantamweight post-fight. That loss to ‘Lucky’ put the former champion at 1-2 since her 2021 return.

Miesha Tate believes there’s a new lease on life for the UFC women’s bantamweight division following the retirement of Amanda Nunes. Last month, Amanda Nunes retired from mixed martial arts. She did so as a two-weight UFC champion, going out on top – something very few fighters are able to do. In doing so, she vacated both belts, including the bantamweight strap – a championship she had to win back from Julianna Pena.

The 35-year-old has been absent from the cage since her defeat to Ketlen Vieira last November. Following the defeat, Tate decided to move downward in weight. She quickly set her target on current women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko.

Miesha Tate and Lauren Murphy will not be sharing the Octagon at UFC 276 after all. During the UFC Vegas 57 broadcast, it was announced that Tate vs. Murphy is off the July 2 PPV card. The bout was scheduled to be on the main card.

Holm (14-6 MMA), the UFC’s former bantamweight champion, was returning to action for the first in over eighteen months this evening. ‘The Preachers Daughter’ entered the contest on a two-fight winning steak, this after scoring decision wins over Raquel Pennington and Irene Aldana in her previous efforts.

Aspen Ladd still hopes she can fight Miesha Tate one day. The feud began after Tate blasted Ladd and her coach and boyfriend in Jim West for the way West yelled at her inside the Octagon during the Norma Dumont fight. West was trying to get Ladd going heading into the fifth round as she was clearly losing but Tate claimed that she’s in an abusive relationship.

Miesha Tate has won Celebrity Big Brother. The former UFC bantamweight champion was one of the 11 houseguests including the likes of Lamar Odom, Chris Kirkpatrick, Chris Kattan, and Shanna Moakler amongst others. Tate, along with the other contestants would be in the house for three weeks and compete in competitions and vote each other out until one remained.

Miesha Tate doesn’t think Amanda Nunes will be able to bounce back in a potential rematch against Julianna Pena this year. At UFC 269, Julianna Pena shocked the world by defeating Amanda Nunes to capture the UFC bantamweight title. Ever since then there’s been talk of what would happen if the pair ran it back, with “The Lioness” still being the most dangerous threat at 135 pounds.
