Miesha Tate only ending retirement for Ronda Rousey

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate recently retired in the midst of a 2-fight skid that saw her drop a submission loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 200, where she lost the bantamweight title, followed by a UFC 205 unanimous decision loss to Raquel Pennington.

Tate explained that after 11 years fighting professionally, she no longer had it, and would be stepping away from the sport. While many believed that the move was an impulsive one, Tate has stuck to her retirement.

With that being said, according to ‘Cupcake’ there is one fight that could bring her out of retirement:

“If I was going to come back, (Rousey) would be the fight that would appeal to me the most,” Tate told fans during a Q&A prior to today’s UFC Fight Night 107 in London. “But at the moment, I’m sorry – it’s just not what I see in my future.”

“I love that I’m able to do more of this and be able to connect more with the fans,” Tate said. “Obviously if I was fighting this weekend I wouldn’t be here doing this. So there’s pros and cons. I had a long career, especially for a female. I fought for 11 years, and now I’ve transitioned to other ways of enjoying the sport, so it’s not all bad.”

Ronda Rousey

Rousey of course is currently on another hiatus from the Octagon following her 2nd career loss. After dropping her first professional loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193, Rousey took over a year away from the Octagon before then returning on New Year’s Eve to fight Amanda Nunes for the bantamweight title. It took just 46 seconds for Nunes to hand Rousey her second straight loss. Since then, UFC President Dana White has expressed his belief that Rousey will not return to the Octagon again.

With that being said, do you think Rousey and Tate will ever fight again?
