Tom Taylor - May 25, 2018

In 2019, the UFC will part ways with FOX and start broadcasting on ESPN. The promotion’s product will also appear extensively on ESPN’s streaming service ESPN+. This new deal between the two parties, which is set to span five years, is worth a hefty $1.5 billion dollars. Speaking on her radio show, MMA Tonight on SiriusXM Rush, former UFC bantamweight champion Miesha Tate gave her take on this new UFC-ESPN deal. For her, the deal seems to represent the next step in the UFC’s evolution.

Miesha Tate defends Raquel Pennington's corner after UFC 224 controversy

Tom Taylor - May 14, 2018

On Saturday night, in the main event of UFC 224, Raquel Pennington failed to capture the UFC women’s bantamweight belt from Amanda Nunes, succumbing to a volley of fifth-round strikes. Unfortunately, Pennington’s title bid was also steeped in controversy, as her corner encouraged her to return for a fifth-round after she told them she was “done” between the fourth and fifth frames. In the wake of this controversy, many fans, pundits and fighters have berated Pennington’s corner for their choice to force her off the stool after she told them she was done. Not everybody, however, feels the fighter’s corner made an error.

Miesha Tate sounds off on Ronda Rousey after "asinine" comments regarding media obligations

Tom Taylor - May 4, 2018

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion and current WWE star Ronda Rousey has never been a particularly big fan of the media. In the wake of her MMA losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes, her relationship with the media got even more tense. Speaking during a recent Q&A to promote her new movie Mile 22, Rousey explained why she’s been so impatient with the media — particularly of late.

Miesha Tate, now 7-months pregnant, "tackled" a Cane Corso to defend her own dog

Tom Taylor - March 20, 2018

In a few short months, former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate will be a mother. Of course, she’s already a mother in a less traditional sense, as the owner of a dog named Skooter. On Monday, Tate took to Facebook to share a harrowing tale, during which Skooter’s very life was in jeopardy. Apparently, while out for a walk in the neighborhood, Tate’s furry companion was attacked by a Cane Corso – those are big dogs if you’re not familiar.

Miesha Tate Responds To Jon Jones Implying She's a 'Quitter'

Justin Golightly - March 3, 2018

At the beginning of this week, Jon Jones finally appeared before the California State Athletic Commission. He subsequently had his license revoked, fined $205K, and will wait to see what length of suspension USADA will hand out. In the midst of the ongoing Jon Jones saga, somehow a feud between him and Miesha Tate developed. She spoke about the CSAC hearing on her regular radio show and said she stopped becoming a fan after being constantly let down. Jones responded publicly and it’s just been on-going since then. @MieshaTate I don’t quit when things get tough for me, I get stronger. You just wait and see, maybe you’ll even find motivation in it. Sucks I lost you as a fan. Enjoy retirement sister

Jon Jones Responds to Miesha Tate After Losing Her as a Fan

Justin Golightly - March 1, 2018

We are finally nearing the end of this next rough chapter in the epic tale of Jon Jones. After his hearing on Tuesday, the California State Athletic commission revoked his license and fined him $205K. He can re-apply for his license as early as August this year, but USADA still has to deal out a suspension on the GOAT candidate. For some fans, like former UFC bantamweight champion Miesha Tate who spoke about her feelings yesterday, this last set-back was the last straw. Jones has since responded on social media. @MieshaTate I don’t quit when things get tough for me, I get stronger. You just wait and see, maybe you’ll even find motivation in it. Sucks I lost you as a fan. Enjoy retirement sister

Miesha Tate is Totally Over Jon Jones At This Point

Justin Golightly - February 28, 2018

While we all are still waiting for the final verdict on Jon Jones, some aren’t as eager for him to comeback. There are countless fans who just want what could very well be the greatest fighter of all-time to return to the Octagon, but for every t-shirt wearing ‘Bones’ supporter, there is one who has just been burned too many times. Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate sounds like one of those fans. “The thing is, I don’t really care at this point if [Jon Jones] comes back because I’ve lost the motivation and the interest, and the faith that I have in Jon Jones has been lost. Now maybe in three, four years, if he gets a great suspension [from the USADA], if he gets the book thrown at him and he really does make those changes, maybe he has a chance at restoring [his legacy], but at this point I just don’t care anymore. I don’t care. I’m over Jon Jones. I’m done with it.

AUDIO | Miesha Tate Doesn't Agree with How UFC 222 was Re-Put Together

Drake Riggs - February 8, 2018

It was announced yesterday that UFC 222 had been saved. Initially what was supposed to be Max Holloway attempting to make his second featherweight title defense against Frankie Edgar turned into…well, another featherweight title fight actually but instead with the other champ! Cris Cyborg will now be headlining the event as she defends against the Invicta FC bantamweight champion, Yana Kunitskaya. As for Edgar, he will remain on the card and take on the quickly rising contender, Brian Ortega in the co-main event. While some are happy that the event was saved at all, that doesn’t mean everyone liked what it was saved with. And among those include former Strikeforce and UFC 135-pound champ, Miesha Tate who had this to say about the change on MMA on SiriusXM:

Drake Riggs - January 5, 2018

Ever since UFC 219 came to a close when we heard Bruce Buffer make the announcement that Cris Cyborg had retained her UFC Featherweight title, everyone has been wondering who will be next.  That includes fans as well as fighters themselves. As well as former fighters and former UFC and Strikeforce Bantamweight champion, Miesha Tate in particular. Miesha spoke about the situation in UFC’s Featherweight division recently on Sirius XM’s MMA Tonight. The current UFC 145 lb division is currently occupied by Cyborg and the 8-2 former Invicta FC champion. Megan Anderson. Anderson has been talked about as a strong candidate for getting the next crack at Cyborg. .@MieshaTate tells @realOCsports that her problem with a potential @criscyborg vs. @MeganA_mma fight is Megan's inexperience plus the quality of opponents in which Megan has beat. pic.twitter.com/5NbqBkC9Nl

Former UFC women's bantamweight champion Miesha Tate has some huge news

Tom Taylor - January 2, 2018

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate has some big, big news. Now that her fighting career has drawn to a close, she’s opening an exciting new chapter –  as a mother. On Monday morning, the former champ announced this exciting news in a post to Facebook, asking that the fans and media respect the privacy of her and dad-to-be Johnny.

Miesha Tate Thinks Holly Holm Can Shock the World Again at UFC 219

Justin Golightly - November 24, 2017

Back when Holly Holm was pitted against Ronda Rousey at UFC 193, Rousey seemed like an unstoppable juggernaut and was heavily favored against the former boxing champion. At UFC 219, the odds will be no different. No one can deny the dominance of Cris Cyborg, especially now that she’s in her proper weight class. With a lack of contenders, it looks like Cyborg could be UFC women’s featherweight champion for a long time. That is, unless Holm has something to say about it. Miesha Tate recently weighed-in on the match-up and thinks Holm has all the righ tools to get the job done. “Of anybody that I can think to fight Cyborg to right now, that has the best chance, I honestly, truly believe that it’s Holly [Holm]. The reason I say that is, if Cyborg cannot get ahold of Holly, if she recklessly chases her down — similar to how Ronda [Rousey] did, not using the correct angles — if she follows her like a missile, which she does in every fight I’ve ever seen before. That’s how she hunts girls down because she can. With Holly, that’s not a good idea. She can cut through those angles. She’s an amazing counter striker and if she lands that head kick, I think she can put anybody away. So stylistically, this makes for a really, really interesting fight.”

Miesha Tate explains why she'd favor Conor McGregor in fight against GSP

Tom Taylor - September 26, 2017

UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor is the biggest star in MMA today. Former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, who is returning to action for a middleweight title fight with Michael Bisping at UFC 217, was previously regarded as the sport’s biggest star himself. Given that McGregor and St-Pierre are now both actively competing, and that they’ve both competed as welterweights in the past, a possible scrap between them is frequently discussed. This fight would register as one of the biggest fights in UFC history, if not the biggest fight in UFC history period.

Miesha Tate Condemns Rousey's Coach for Suggesting a Cyborg Fight

Justin Golightly - September 21, 2017

There was a lot of talk when Ronda Rousey’s coach voiced his opinion that he still wants the long-awaited fight with Cris Cyborg. It’s a fight that Cyborg herself is no longer interested in, and one her coach scolded Edmond Tarverdyan for suggesting. The latest to speak out on this is Rousey’s greatest rival, Miesha Tate. Not only does she think it’s ‘asinine’ for Tarverdyan to put the idea out there, but gives credit to Cyborg for shooting the fight down before the idea even gets legs. “I’m gonna give Cyborg a round of applause, because she wouldn’t look more like a bully than if she took that fight with Ronda. That would be ridiculous. It’s just nonsense to even think about that. I cannot believe that Edmond [Tarverdyan] would suggest something so asinine. I think Edmond just wants another payday so he can try to pay off his bankruptcy issues, because Jiminy Christmas. Poor Ronda. I’m not her biggest fan, but I wouldn’t even want to see that fight. I’m not her biggest fan, but I wouldn’t want to see her get slaughtered by Cyborg at this point in her career, either. It’s not appealing.”

Miesha Tate weighs in on Germaine de-Randamie-Cris Cyborg controversy

bjpenndotcom - July 4, 2017

Germaine de Randamie may no longer be the UFC women’s featherweight champion, however her feud with the UFC is still an extremely controversial one. After winning the belt earlier this year, it appeared as though the stars had aligned for Germaine de Randamie to defend her title against Cris Cyborg. De Randamie refused to fight Cyborg, explaining that the former Invicta FC champ is a “proven cheater” in regards to her drug testing history. While Cyborg’s team, and many others, held out hope for a GDR-Cyborg fight, de-Randamie was ultimately stripped of the title by the UFC, and Cris Cyborg was booked to fight Megan Anderson.

Miesha Tate explains why she's grateful for Ronda Rousey rivalry

bjpenndotcom - June 7, 2017

In the early days of WMMA, one rivalry shined above all others. Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate are widely credited with being the duo to propel WMMA into the spotlight, and ultimately leading the Fertitta brothers and UFC President Dana White to creating a women’s division in the UFC. Now, with Tate retired, and Ronda Rousey on an indefinite hiatus with no guaranteed return, ‘Cupcake’ is extremely fortunate for her feud with Rousey.

Miesha Tate: I wish Cyborg would have punched Angela Magana harder

Tom Taylor - June 4, 2017

Arguably the biggest story to emerge from the UFC athletes retreat earlier this month surrounds a dramatic clash between UFC featherweight star Cris “Cyborg” Justino and UFC strawweight Angela Magana. This drama was sparked when Magana made some nasty comments about Cyborg  online, and reached a violent crescendo when a vengeful Cyborg punched Magana in the face at the athletes retreat. In the wake of this incident, Magana has elected to press charges against Cyborg, and the UFC claims to be taking Cyborg’s punch very seriously.

Miesha Tate only ending retirement for Ronda Rousey

bjpenndotcom - March 18, 2017

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate recently retired in the midst of a 2-fight skid that saw her drop a submission loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 200, where she lost the bantamweight title, followed by a UFC 205 unanimous decision loss to Raquel Pennington. Tate explained that after 11 years fighting professionally, she no longer had it, and would be stepping away from the sport. While many believed that the move was an impulsive one, Tate has stuck to her retirement.
