Source: Holly Holm vs. Miesha Tate 2 in the works for UFC 200
Sources close to BJPENN.COM have confirmed that the UFC is looking to set up a rematch between Holly Holm and Miesha Tate for July’s UFC 200 event in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Miesha Tate beat Holly Holm by rear-naked choke to become the UFC women’s bantamweight champion at UFC 196. Tate secured the choke in the fifth and final round of their title fight that put the former champion Holm to sleep.
UFC President Dana White stated after UFC 196 that his intention was to set up a trilogy bout between Tate and former champion Ronda Rousey. Rousey won their first bout when the two first met in Strikeforce back in 2012 by armbar in the first round. Rousey also won their second match in the Octagon at UFC 168 again by armbar submission in the third round.
However, our sources are saying that because Rousey will not be ready in time for the blockbuster event, the UFC is looking to set up the rematch between Holm vs. Tate.
