Darren Till Explains Why He's Pulling for Mike Perry to Win at UFC Winnipeg
Justin Golightly - December 16, 2017
We’re hours away from Mike Perry’s fight with Santiago Ponzinibbio. It’s a classic fight that we’ve seen time and time again. With all of his victories being finishes, the UFC is banking on Perry to go into this fight at UFC Winnipeg and increase his star power. If he wins, not only doesn’t it increase the value of the Platinum product, but opens up more options as he breaks into the welterweight rankings. One of those being a potential showdown with another surging contender, that was hyped back in Poland: Darren Till. “As I said before, I don’t really care about rankings, and if [Mike] Perry wins — even if Santiago [Ponzinibbio] wins — I think they’re both good match-ups for me. If Perry wins, it’s a great showdown for the Liverpool event because I know he’s definitely game to come and fight me in my hometown, and I know he’s going to come in talking some sh-t and I’m going to be talking sh-t. I think it would make for an explosive buildup to a fight and I know that for a fact. It’s going to make for a good fight, so I’m pulling for Perry to win this weekend. If you asked me who’s going to win, I’d probably say Santiago is going to pull the win off, but I would like Perry to win. People might think I’ve gone past him, but I think that fight is up in the air now. I’ll take any fight.”

Justin Golightly - December 15, 2017
Despite high-profile names like Robbie Lawler and Rafael dos Anjos headlining the card, Mike Perry has enjoyed his shine in the spotlight leading up to UFC Winnipeg. He’s talked about his eye poke defense training, had a tense and strange staredown with opponent Santiago Ponzinibbio, and even belted out his own wild version of a Christmas favorite. He hasn’t stopped there. Before he steps into the Octagon on Saturday, he sat down with our own Chris Taylor for an exclusive Platinum interview. What’s his mood like ahead of his fight tomorrow:

VIDEO | Mike Perry Asked Training Partners to Try and Eyepoke Him
Drake Riggs - December 14, 2017
We’ve already learned by now that Mike Perry is a pretty unique guy… The heavy-handed Welterweight striker known as “Platinum” is set to take on his toughest opponent to date this Saturday in Santiago Ponzinibbio. But leading up to this bout, Perry did some rather interesting training preparation. Gunnar Nelson last fought Ponzinibbio and lost via first-round knockout after several claims were made of him being eye poked prior to the knockout. When asked about the pokes and training for them, Perry had this to say in his UFC on Fox 26 media day:
Mike Perry Says He Might 'Francis Ngannou' Santiago Ponzinibbio
Justin Golightly - December 13, 2017
UFC Winnipeg is coming in hot this weekend giving us more violence between Robbie Lawler and former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos. Those aren’t the only welterweights promising destruction on the card. Mike Perry is looking to continue trying to punch his hype into the stratosphere by taking out Santiago Ponzinibbio. Breaking the fight down in a recent interview, Perry references surging heavyweight Francis Ngannou when forecasting what we can expect in their clash on Saturday. “[Santiago Ponzinibbio] comes forward and he comes to fight so I’m going to throw hands. I’m quite experienced in that area and I’m used to opponents that like to kick and wrestle a lot so this changes it up a little. Styles make fights. He’s coming to throw hands and I got a lot of tools for that. I’m probably going to knock him the f-ck out in the first round. I just had a dream that I was f-cking this guy up for two rounds and I was about to choke him out at the end of the second. I let go of the choke and I just started hitting him and hitting him and he protected himself and I was like, you know, maybe I didn’t want to submit him and I wanted to get that knockout. Who knows man. I’m a smart motherf-cker and I’ll take that win any way that it comes to me.”

EXCLUSIVE | Mike Perry trashes "v*gina" Colby Covington, explains what he'd do if he was hit with a boomerang
Tom Taylor - November 23, 2017
Earlier this month, in the lead-up to the UFC’s recent show in Sydney, Australia, surging UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington had a run-in with former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum. Evidently angered by Covington’s controversial anti-Brazil comments, Werdum got physical with the welterweight, and ultimately threw a novelty boomerang at him. Speaking on the latest episode of BJ Penn Radio, Mike Perry, who is one of Covington’s arch rivals at welterweight, sounded off on this whole ordeal. He assured that, had he been the one tangling with Werdum and his boomerang, things would have gone very differently.

Mike Perry explains why Santiago Ponzinibbio is a redemption story
Tom Taylor - October 22, 2017
This December 16, on the UFC on Fox 26 broadcast, rising welterweight contender “Platinum” Mike Perry will face the toughest test of his career thus far, as he battles Argentinian knockout artist Santiago Ponzinibbio. Though Perry has never encountered Ponzinibbio before, he still considers this fight something of a redemption story. Why? Because Ponzinibbio recently beat Gunnar Nelson, who recently beat Alan Jouban, who is in turn the only man Perry has lost to. Perry explained this feeling in a Facebook live interview over the weekend:
