Emil Meek and Mike Perry Are Still Trying to Get a Fight at UFC 218
Justin Golightly - September 26, 2017
Mike Perry is coming off two big knockout wins — one in the second and his latest in the first round — and he’s wanting a super quick turnaround. He’s called out Robbie Lawler, but much like boy scouts, MMA fighters always need to be prepared in ever situation. Meanwhile, Emil Meek hasn’t lost since 2015 and he’s wants to oblige Perry’s wishes by meeting him in battle in Detroit. They’ve let the public know that they’re both into the idea on Twitter, just in case you thought they were just playing around, they’re back at it doubling down on the potential scrap. You can add 'Wonderboy' to the long list of fighters in Mike Perry's crosshairs
Tom Taylor - September 24, 2017
“Platinum” Mike Perry is one of the fastest rising contenders in the UFC welterweight division. Since joining the UFC fold in August of 2016, he has knocked out Hyun Gyu Lim, Danny Roberts, Jake Ellenberger, and most recently, Alex Reyes. Though these knockout wins were interspersed by a decision loss to Alan Jouban, they have still been enough to elevate Perry to the number-15 spot in the UFC welterweight rankings. And now that he’s in the top-15, he’s putting all of his peers on notice. One of the latest fighters to find himself in Perry’s crosshairs is two-time welterweight title challenger Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, who battles Jorge Masvidal at UFC 217 on November 4.

Tom Taylor - September 24, 2017

Over the last few months, the pair have exchanged plenty of heat in interviews and on social media. On the latest episode of BJ Penn Radio, the trend continued, as Perry spat some fire at Covington, assuring that if Covington gets by Demian Maia on October 28, he’d like to fight him as soon as possible thereafter.

Alex Reyes Looks to 'Expose' Mike Perry in his Second Chance at a UFC Debut
Justin Golightly - September 16, 2017
When Thiago Alves had to pull out of his fight with Mike Perry at UFC Pittsburgh, Perry didn’t bat an eye at the change of an opponent. Even though it was only three-days notice, Alex Reyes didn’t either. The former King of the Cage lightweight champion jumped at his chance to get into the UFC just like anyone would, but he wasn’t always this lucky. Last October, Reyes was supposed to step in to face Josh Burkman at UFC Fight Night 96 but had to turn the fight down because of an injury himself. Not only is tonight a redemption for Alex Reyes, but a chance to make a serious statement. “It was heartbreaking at that time. You hope and pray that you get called up someday, you work your whole career, you work hard and you get that call, but you can’t [accept it] because of injury. It was tough, man. It was a tough injury. And I came back from it and I knew that if I ever got that call again, there was going to be no hesitation. Sh-t man, when I got that first call, I wanted to accept it anyway. That’s why it was so heartbreaking, because I wanted to say yes but my body couldn’t. It wasn’t even saying no, it just couldn’t. So as soon as I got that call [this week[, man, I was like, ‘Let’s go. I’m ready. No hesitation. I belong here.’”
Mike Perry Isn't Buying Thiago Alves' 'Bullsh*t' Excuse for UFC Pittsburgh
Justin Golightly - September 14, 2017
News broke yesterday that Thiago Alves had to pull out of his fight with Mike Perry at UFC Pittsburgh. Originally, the cause was unknown, but it was eventually reported by Ariel Helwani that it was due to complications from Hurricane Irma since Alves is based out of Florida. After hearing this, Perry, who came from Florida himself, isn’t convinced. Luckily someone stepped up to replace Alves, but a heated Mike Perry recently voiced his opinion to Mike Dyce at Fansided about his former opponent’s travel problems. “That’s bullsh-t. I came from Florida, we got more f-cked up than he did. There are so many people here from South Florida. I was just talking to Michael Johnson. His coaches from [American Top Team] down there, are here today. They flew up yesterday when he was supposed to. He is feeding y’all bullsh-t. He don’t want to fight, he doesn’t want to retire yet and I was going to put him to sleep. It’s simple as that. Does he get the opportunity to fight me after I smash [Alex Reyes]? They need to get me a top-10 opponent after this.”

Welterweight contenders Colby Covington and Mike Perry swap heat on Twitter
Tom Taylor - September 13, 2017
Colby Covington and Mike Perry, two of the UFC’s most promising welterweight contenders, have been exchanging a bit of trash talk on Twitter. This heat began when when a fan asked Covington what his prediction was for Mike Perry’s UFC Pittsburgh scrap with Thiago Alves. Given that Alves is one of Covington’s teammates at American Top Team, his answer wasn’t particularly surprising.
Mike Perry Praises 'Smart' Tyron Woodley and Trashes Demian Maia
Justin Golightly - September 12, 2017
Mike Perry just says it how it is, you know? When you have your nickname “Platinum” tattooed above your eye in cursive, there’s no way you can keep a low profile anyway. After a loss to Alan Jouban ended his nine-fight win streak, he’s about to fight Thiago Alves at UFC Pittsburgh and try to keep in the win column. The outspoken welterweight wildman recently voiced his opinion on ‘good guy’ Tyron Woodley. The UFC welterweight champion he hopes to fight one day. “I thought it was a championship performance [against Demian Maia]. I thought [Tyron Woodley] did a great job. Everybody hates on him. I think that’s what they’re supposed to do. I think they’re supposed to hate on ‘T-Woodley.’ That’s who ‘T-Woodley’ has become, this hated figure as a champion who just fights smart. People are mad how smart he is. I like the champ, he’s a good guy. I’ve talked to him a few times. He knows it’s a possibility one day we’re going to fight, but it is what it is.”
Mike Perry on Thiago Alves: "I hope he does miss weight!"
Tom Taylor - August 3, 2017
On September 16, when the UFC touches down in Pittsburgh, PA, ever entertaining welterweight “Platinum” Mike Perry will step onto the canvas with former welterweight title challenger Thiago Alves. Alves, of course, has long stood out as one of the welterweight division’s most exciting – and dangerous – fighters. The one knock against the Brazilian star, however, is that he’s had some real difficulty making weight in the past. To recount, Alves has missed weight for welterweight fights with Matt Hughes and Jon Fitch, and for his lone attempt at making lightweight, when he tipped the scales at 162 pounds rather than the mandated 155. And while he seemed to have his weight under control for his last fight – an exciting decision defeat of Patrick Cote – there seems to be an ever-present possibility that he misses again.

Tom Taylor - August 3, 2017
On September 16, all-action welterweight “Platinum” Mike Perry will step into the Octagon with former title challenger Thiago Alves. While Perry has endured pretty difficult weight cuts in the past, he expects his cut for this battle with Alves to be quite easy. This is in part due to intense training and clean eating, but also due to a wild accident wherein Perry swallowed a piece of metal and got violently ill. The fan favorite welterweight shared this story on the latest episode of BJ Penn Radio:

Mike Perry on possible Al Iaquinta fight: he "does not want these f*cking problems in his life"
Tom Taylor - June 5, 2017
Since their respective knockout wins on the main card of the UFC’s latest trip to Nashville, “Platinum” Mike Perry and “Ragin'” Al Iaquinta have exchanged some serious heat on Twitter. Despite the fact that they fight at welterweight and lightweight respectively, the two talented fighters seem very down to fight each other. In a recent interview with BJPenn.com’s Chris Taylor, Mike Perry spoke on this possibility, and assured that a fight with Iaquinta is one that he is indeed interested in.
