Miocic didn’t turn down fight with Jones
Last week Cain Velasquez withdrew from his UFC 196 heavyweight showdown with Fabricio Werdum. Velasquez was replaced by Stipe Miocic, however news broke shortly after that Werdum had withdrawn from the bout as well.
There was a scramble for the UFC to find a replacement main event for the bout. Many on Twitter began to call for former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones to step in and fight Miocic.
Jones took to Twitter to reveal that he would fight Miocic, but only if it was for the UFC heavyweight title. The fight never materialized, and the co-main event bout between Johny Hendricks and Stephen Thompson was promoted to the main event.
Stipe Miocic took to Twitter to reveal that he never turned down a fight with Jones.
Oh and for the record I didn't turn down shit. I took a championship fight on 2 weeks notice and it got cancelled. That's the end of it.
