Last night in the quarterfinal of the Rizin FF Grand Prix, MMA legend Mirko Cro Cop stepped into the ring with top ranked Bellator MMA fighter Muhammad ‘King Mo’ Lawal. While King Mo certainly had the advantage of being younger than the MMA legend, it was Cro Cop who emerged victorious.
In the second round, a failed takedown attempt saw King Mo forced up against the ropes, where Cro Cop managed to land a brutal uppercut to turn King Mo’s lights off.
Another legend of mixed martial arts has decided to hang up the gloves. On Friday, former PRIDE, UFC and Bellator heavyweight star Mirko Cro Cop announced that he’s ending his fighting career. Cro Cop explained that he is ending his fighting career because he suffered a stroke shortly after his last fight, a decision defeat of Roy Nelson, and that he can no longer withstand damage to the head.

It was announced yesterday that legendary MMA heavyweight, Mirko Cro Cop had been injured out of his big upcoming Bellator 200 main event rematch with Roy Nelson. The specifics of the injury weren’t given out at that time but now they have been and they’re a little stunning.
What exactly Cro Cop did to injure himself remains unknown but Ariel Helwani caught up with the legend last night and got the details about the severity of the damage his knee took.
Bellator 200, which is now just days away, has reportedly lost its originally planned main event. According to Gareth A Davis of The Telegraph, Mirko Cro Cop has been forced out his headlining showdown with Roy Nelson with a leg injury.
Per The Telegraph’s report, a replacement opponent is being sought for Nelson. Given that Bellator has just days to find a suitable understudy, however, it’s hard to say how this will shake out.
