Following the fight, Nate Diaz was seen smoking a vape pen and was asked about it by the media.

“It’s CBD,” Diaz said at the UFC 202 post-fight press conference (transcribed by MMA Fighting). “It helps with the healing process and inflammation, stuff like that. So you want to get these for before and after the fights, training. It’ll make your life a better place.”

The NSAC later stated that they would not be penalizing Diaz for admittingly smoking the CBD oil as it was done post-drug test. However, the UFC’s anti-doping third party, the U.S. Anti-Doping agency (USADA) was still investigating the incident.

USADA released a statement, reported by MMA Fighting on Thursday that Diaz was given a public warning for his admitted use of CBD oil at the UFC 202 post-fight press conference.

“Based on these circumstances, USADA determined that a public warning was an appropriate response to Diaz’s use of a specified substance during the in-competition period,” the release stated.

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto tweeted, “Nate Diaz has accepted a public warning from USADA for his admitted use of Cannabidiol after UFC 202. Nice to see it starts and ends there.” Okamoto also replied to a tweet that claimed Diaz did nothing illegal. “Technically, he did violate the program. USADA basically forced to address it. End result is fine.”

Nate Diaz said after the UFC 202 fight with McGregor that he was going on vacation until the UFC was ready to put their trilogy fight together, although he has taken shots at both McGregor and UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez following their UFC 205 press conference.

With the amount of money that Diaz made for the rematch with Conor McGregor, he surely can take a good amount of time off.
