Nate Diaz's UFC contract reportedly expiring later this year

UFC welterweight Nate Diaz could be gone from the promotion as soon as November. The Stockton-slugger has been out of action since his loss to Leon Edwards at UFC 263 last June. Following the defeat, the fan favorite has been vocal about finishing out his contract. The fight with Edwards was the penultimate fight of his current UFC deal.

Over the course of the last few years there hasn’t exactly been much ‘peace’ between Nate Diaz and his UFC rivals. The loss was his second in a row, having been stopped by Jorge Masvidal back in November 2019. However, the fight with Edwards had importance to it.

It has been well-documented that Diaz has one fight left on his contract and he has been vocal about wanting to fight it out and go to free agency. However, he has not got a fight booked as the UFC is trying to re-sign him but for Diaz he just wants out of his contract.

For months now, it has been made clear that the UFC is trying to book Chimaev vs. Diaz in what would be a massive fight as both men are big stars. Chimaev says that is because Diaz is scared of him and if they do fight, he vows to smash him.
