UFC welterweight contender Leon Edwards has issued a searing response to a recent dig from fellow welterweight star Nate Diaz. Earlier this week, Birmingham’s Edwards took a shot at fellow welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal, who he was involved in a backstage brawl with in 2019, but has yet to meet in the Octagon—despite his best efforts.

Diaz and Nurmagomedov have had a feud for quite some time and Diaz even slapped Nurmagomedov backstage at an event. Yet, this feud with Edwards only came up when the Englishman took a shot at the welterweight division and Jorge Masvidal.
Kamaru Usman vs. Gilbert Burns set for UFC 256, BMF title fight in the works

UFC 256 could feature two welterweight title fights. Yes, that’s right two. According to a report from TMZ, undisputed welterweight champion Kamaru Usman is set defend his title against Gilbert Burns on the card, and a BMF title rematch between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz is also in the works for the event. Usman was originally expected to defend his title against Burns in July. Regrettably, Burns, who is riding a huge win over Tyron Woodley, was forced out of the fight when he tested positive for COVID-19. He was then replaced by Masvidal, who Usman defeated by unanimous decision.

UFC president Dana White says that welterweight superstar Nate Diaz will “definitely” fight again inside the Octagon, though he doesn’t know when exactly. Diaz is one of the biggest superstars in the UFC but he hasn’t fought since November 2019 when he lost via TKO (doctor stoppage) to Jorge Masvidal in a battle for the first-ever UFC BMF title. There have been rumblings of a potential rematch between Diaz and Masvidal, as well as a potential trilogy fight between Diaz and rival Conor McGregor, but so far nothing has been booked and the Stockton native continues to sit on the sidelines.

Volkanovski won a controversial split decision over Holloway to retain the UFC featherweight championship with scores of 47-48, 48-47, and 48-47. Many fans, media, and fellow fighters thought that Volkanovski had done enough to win the fight, not to mention UFC president Dana White, but two of the three people that truly matter when it comes to handing down the decision believed that Volkanovski deserved the win.
