PHOTO | Nate Diaz takes a shot at rival Conor McGregor
Former UFC lightweight title challenger Nate Diaz recently took to his Instagram where he posted the following photo with the caption “I was ready for round 3 that night were you?”, clearly taking shot at his rival Conor McGregor.
Nate Diaz has been lobbying for a trilogy bout with the current UFC featherweight champion ever since Conor McGregor was awarded a majority decision victory over him in the main event of UFC 202 this past August.
That fight marked the second time that Diaz and McGregor had met inside the octagon, with the “Stockton Slugger” emerging victorious in the pairs first encounter via second-round submission (rear-naked choke) at UFC 196 this past March.
Conor McGregor is currently booked to fight current UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez for the promotions 155-pound title this November in the main event of UFC 205 in New York.
If “Mystic Mac” is able to dethrone Alvarez, he will become the first fighter in UFC history to hold two belts simultaneously.
Nate Diaz has gone on record as saying that the only fight which will bring him back to the UFC octagon is a third bout with Conor McGregor.
In a recent interview with The LAD Bible, “The Notorious” stated that he was open to defending his lightweight title against Diaz after he defeats Eddie Alvarez this November 12 in New York. However, McGregor added that he was hopeful that Diaz’s team would talk him out of the trilogy fight as it “wouldn’t be good for him”.
