VIDEO | Nate Diaz responds to Eddie Alvarez for calling him a .500 fighter
Last week on the UFC 205 conference call current UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez took a shot at Conor McGregor’s previous opponents, claiming that the brash Irish superstar had fought “a bunch of chumps”.
Alvarez went on to take shots at McGregor’s most recent opponent, Nate Diaz, saying the following about the Stockton Slugger.
“The guys he’s picked to fight; these are subpar guys,” Alvarez said. “Even Nate (Diaz) is a .500 lightweight and everybody in the lightweight division has beat Nate and he had trouble doing that. The guys that he’s faced are nothing of the caliber of fighter that I am.”
“He’s fought a bunch of chumps. If I had the resume he had, if they gave me that resume, if I was that lucky to get them opponents, the same sh-t would happen, if not worse. Styles make matchups. When you pick the style you want to fight, then sh-t, you get mismatched, you can knock everyone out.”
Nate Diaz finally reacted to the comments made by Eddie Alvarez today by reposting the following video on Instagram.
The above video showcases highlights from when Nate Diaz scored a lopsided victory over former lightweight title challenger Donald Cerrone. It also features highlights from Eddie Alvarez’s UFC debut, which he lost to “Cowboy” in rather unspectacular fashion.
Although Nate did not actually issue any words himself, the video was a clear shot at Eddie Alvarez for his previous comments.
Since losing to Cerrone in his UFC debut Alvarez has gone 3-0, scoring wins over Anthony Pettis, Gilbert Melendez and most recently Rafael dos Anjos.
