Neil Magny reacts to Carlos Condit booking
Last night, we learned that fan favorite UFC welterweight contender Carlos Condit would be returning from a lengthy hiatus at UFC 219 this December 30. His opponent will be established welterweight contender Neil Magny.
Shortly after this exciting booking was announced, Magny took to Instagram to share his first comments on it. Unsurprisingly, he’s pretty excited about the chance to welcome Carlos Condit back to the cage.
“No time to waste,” Magny said of this fight. “This challenge will bring out the best of m and I’m ready to rise to the occasion.”
Neil Magny has not been seen in the cage since September, when he was dominated to a first-round submission loss by former UFC lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos. This loss was preceded by a decision triumph over former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks, and a TKO loss to current Bellator star Lorenz Larkin. Magny is 19-6 in sum.
Carlos Condit, meanwhile, has not fought since August of 2016, when he experienced a lopsided submission loss of his own, this one dealt by Demian Maia. This loss was preceded by a razor close decision defeat to then UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler. Condit is 30-10 overall.
UFC 219 will also feature a bantamweight bout between former champion Dominick Cruz and streaking contender Jimmie Rivera, a strawweight bout between Cynthia Calvillo and a former champ Carla Esparza, and a flyweight bout between Louis Smolka and Matheus Nicolau.
How do you think Carlos Condit will look in his long anticipated return to the cage? Do you think he can get by Neil Magny?
